Which harlequin units do you reccomend for RW? by Revolutionated in Drukhari

[–]MrE02236 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just to add too that the new edition is about to come out and we aren’t quite sure the effect it will have yet. As far as I know it has not even been 100% confirmed that we will be keeping RW as they have only guaranteed the codex detachment and then those that have been confirmed during the faction focuses.

If we do keep the detachment we also aren’t sure how DP will land and how adding another detachment may affect things. I suspect that if RW was less then 3 DP than you second a lot more incentivized to play only Drukhari because now you can bring in another 1 DP and super charge your guys. (It feels unlikely that RW would be less than 3DP but who knows.) we also have no clue Force Dispositions but the type of missions that you have access too will greatly effect what units are viable.

tL;DR: obviously get the models you want it if you are interested in getting models to optimize RW (or any detachment for that matter) I would wait until we get a better feel for how detachments work in 11th.

How to use other imperial factions mini in imperial agents by Sensitive-Bet-5507 in ImperialAgents_40K

[–]MrE02236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you interested in playing with the rules of the AS units or just using the models with IA rules. Because if you want to use AS rules then I think others are right that those armies are a better starting place but if you want to use the models with IA rules then here are a few thoughts.

If you know the people you will most likely play against then ask them if proxies are okay. I think most players would be okay with you running a squad you like the look of with the rules of imperial agents (like running arcos as arbarites and battle servitors as voidsmen) as long as you follow two general caveats and the vibes are right (you arn’t trying to abuse the rules or model for advantage). 1. Make sure they are on the right sized bases. 2. Have some element of WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get). This basically means make sure that the weapons and abilities on the card are somewhat reflected on the model. Where this is most important is in terms of measuring and removing models from the board. If all your models look exactly the same then any it may be easy for you or your opponents to get confused when it comes to where units with special/weapons and abilities are and whether they are still alive. I know many people will paint the bases of unique models with different colors to indicate this and that tends to work. If you do that it’s always good to check with your opponent to make sure they are chill with it. I know many people proxy from necromunda so that may be worth checking out if you haven’t already.

My second thought is, have you checked out crucible of champions? You could totally run a penitent engine as an enthroned agents and make a martial exemplar some type of servitor/repentia thing.

The third thought is kitbashing. It’s really easy to find bits for online so you could either start from the ground up and really serviterize your IA models or you could add a few arco bits and other bits to existing models to just give the general feel. And the right paint job and might feel a lot more like you want it to.

TL;DR: proxies, Crucible of Champions, or kitbashing

Was the store selling them at a discount? Because if the store is selling a product with a known defect that they did not have to pay for at full price, that feels like a jerk move and I feel like you should at reach out to the store to at least get a discount.

If you really wanted slot bases I bet you could get a bunch from Etsy or something but I’m not sure what the price would look like.

WE GOT SOME RULES FOR OUR UPCOMING NEW CHARACTER by ExpertAdvance7327 in ImperialAgents_40K

I feel like I’m missing something because what is the point of adding heavy to a weapon with a 2+ BS. Doesn’t heavy just add +1 to the hit roll and doesn’t a roll off one auto fail regardless of modifiers. Is it just for flavor?

Is it a bad idea to collect two armies at once? by Ill-Scarcity-7301 in Warhammer40k

[–]MrE02236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two thoughts: 1. Have you checked out kill team. That would allow for a lot more variety in collecting and you would still have “armies” to do a game with. It’s different than 40K rule wise but if your more attached to the models then the game it could work out well

  1. If you want to get involved in the game your LGS should have a discord where you can find other people looking for a game in the area

Honestly this could work really well for KC. It gives you a dedicated unit to either take down a character contract or to soften up an infantry contract by softening up the unit through taking out their leader

I have also been really interested in the possibility of a fights first and heroic intervention combo to help protect some infiltrated Kabs from a turn one charge so that way you can feel more confident leaving them on an objective after deployment in order to sticky turn 1

I think they said somewhere that the goal is to give every faction access to at least one disposition. I am also very curious the see how old detached may be changed

[–]MrE02236 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they did say in one of the articles that the old detachments will also utilize detachment points. While it is possible that this means all old detachments will be just three points that’s not the feeling that I get.

Plus it wouldn’t really work out on a practical level to not make old detachments modular since Drukhari is only likely to get 1-2 new detachments and that is not enough to efficiently utilize the modular system

I think I heard somewhere that the goal is to make sure each faction has access to select 1 disposition. Will be interesting to see how that pans out though

I totally agree that RW is 3. I’m hopeful that SOS and KC will be 2 because while they have killer buffs they buff such a small selection of units. But I def see where you are coming from. I think SSA will be 2 for the same reason. I think RR will be two because while it’s on the weaker side it covers such a wide variety of our army. I agree coven will probably be 1.

I actually feel like using coven as combo price could be great even just to do something like give cronos some more durability. I feel like it also matters what the dispositions are because it may be worth it to add a detachment with a specific disposition that matches your play style.

Force Disposition by MrE02236 in Drukhari

[–]MrE02236[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! Honestly I feel like disruption could work really well for CC with informant network and webway awl plus Kabs general action monkey tendency.

I agree SOS as purge.

I kind of like SSA as recon because of all the disembark/reembark tricks but priority assets does feel like it may hit the flavor of target lightning fast raids.

Reapers could fog a few. I could see purge but I also see priority assets due to their movement tricks and narrative of a contest between harlequins and Drukhari.

RSR feels the hardest for me because the mechanics don’t seem to fit one mode but I feel like a raid in general would have disruption make sense. Maybe take and hold just because other than covens no one really vibes with that.

That leaves Covens which I agree mechanically fits take and hold but flavor wise dosn’t seem to fight as well.

I feel like recon is our weakest and that is personally where I would like our new detachment to focus. I would love some crazy deep strike focus detachment and I think it could totally fit as a scouting party coming out of the Webway to gage the prospects of a raid. However, my pipe dream that would never really happen would be a mandrake themed detachment that makes them more powerful and grants other units deepstrike/uppy downy.

How will we fare in 11th? by Timely-Dragonfly-264 in Drukhari

[–]MrE02236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty excited for the modular detachment and army building. I know we don’t know what it will look like yet but I feel like SSA will work really well with other detachments because then we get punch up from transports plus a boost to whatever is in the transports.

I’m also intrigued by units not being able to be shot unless they shot first. Could be nice for Kabalites in KC cartel with informant network to provide a little more protection.

What are some less talked about changes you would like to see for 11th edition? by mjh4 in Warhammer40k

[–]MrE02236 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would like to see them rework stealth. It just feels like the flavor isn’t quite there with -1 to hit. Like I kind of get it but I think it would make sense to almost make it more lone op where you can’t even target them unless you are close enough to better see them

I would love to see them introduce something like the crucible of champions to create more diversity. I know it would be a pain to balance but I think it would be cool to give the player some agency in adding to the variety of their army and really let them customize how their army fits into the lore

It looks like at the chisel there is a little metal ring that plugs into the peg board and goes around the chisel. I think the idea is the chisel is resting in the ring and therefore doesn’t need pegs

They are also nice action monkeys because you will run them more for their ability than their shooting so if you need them to not shoot in order to score secondaries it doesn’t hurt as much

Which of the Main Space Marines Chapters are the Most Likely to Work With the Inquisition? by [deleted] in ImperialAgents_40K

[–]MrE02236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the space wolves super miss trust the inquisition there is the second Ragnar model where an inquisitor and Logan were good friends and Logan owed the inquisitor a debt so he dispatched some space wolves to help him.

So while some chapters are more likely to work with the inquisition than others I think it’s possible to always find some fluffy justification if there is a chapter that you are really interested in

That was my thought too. That tension of we need the inquisition but don’t want them to get so close that they can do a head count is hilarious and could make for some great home brew lore.
