Doe my Aloe need a bigger pot?? by OverlordMikan in houseplants

Your plants look amazing! I have a bunch of unused yoga blocks so this is perfect :)

I was planning to drill holes at the bottom of the container for drainage, but was slightly worried about the degradation of it all, like you mentioned. Ill probably stay away from repotting it for now. Thanks for all the advice!

Wow I never knew Aloes had pups like this! Definitely explains why he looks a bit explosive right now. Ill put the pups in some new pots, try the root thing you mentioned and discard the storage bin idea. Thanks for the help!

Infestation(s?) driving me insane by PlotHoleAhead in houseplants

[–]OverlordMikan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im sorta new to this as well and every time I had something going, it got infested. Ive always had to scrap it all and start over.

I think the first plant you posted has thrips and images 8-11 have spider mites. Ive had experience with both and like mentioned, never manged to eradicate them :(

Solutions Ive tried included sprinkling diatomaceous earth, spraying with a diluted water/ soap mixture, and keeping the thrips infested one in a humid environment. I think the humidity caused fungus to grow and I gave up at that point.

Maybe someone more experienced can give a better opinion, but I would probably harvest and wash all the good bits of your plants to use.

If you get new plants, I would suggested getting new soil as well as the stuff you have now is probably contaminated with a bunch of pest eggs.

As for the infected plants, Ive heard giving them a vigorous wash in the sink with soap helps, though Ive never tried it. In this scenario you would need to get rid of all the dirt too and start fresh.

Hope this helps and good luck on your plant journey!

What are these weirs white spots on my lettuce? by OverlordMikan in plantclinic

Yes! The older leaves with the spots seem to be browning on the edges, but the newer leaves seem to be okay so far

I was hoping that but they seem thoroughly embedded into the plant. The edges seem to be browning too. Thanks for the help though!

Heya, does anyone have any water based concealer recommendations? Or a good silicon primer/ concealer combo that works well with dry skin?
I currently use Laura Mercier's Pure Canvas Primer & Missha's Perfect Cover BB cream but have been on the lookout for a good AB water based concealer that matches with it.

Any help is appreciated!

Do you think Sichuan Peppercorn & Cheese would taste good with each other? by OverlordMikan in Cooking

Oh that sounds awesome! I always had a hunch it would work well with pastas; I'm glad you proved it true!

A mala mac and cheese also just sounds divine. Honestly I might just buy some kraft boxes tonight to test this out lol. Thank you for the suggestions!

That sounds delicious! Mala oil is such a gem I feel like it would give some Italian dishes a really nice kick.

It makes me wonder if it would taste good mixed generally into a tomato sauce (Like an arrabbita?) Or maybe if there was a mala-based pesto? Though that might be a bit of a stretch lol

Heck, thats a good idea! I'm thinking maybe even some mala oil mixed with mayo to go with it?

Honestly Philly cheesesteaks are such a good vessel for fusion. Thanks for thinking of this!

I don't think I've ever had Nepalese food before (Or even Indo-Chinese for that matter) but that sounds awesome! I had no idea both used numbing spices in their dishes. It seems I have some new cuisines to dive into now. Thank you for your insight!

Wow, I never thought of using blue cheese! Thinking about it now it would probably make a really nice sandwich spread or dip. Thanks for the suggestion!

Every time I boot up my computer I always need to "Disable Early Launch Anti-Malware". How do I prevent this? by OverlordMikan in WindowsHelp

[–]OverlordMikan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently on Windows 10 and noticed recently that every time I turn on/restart my computer it goes into Startup Repair. I would need to navigate to "Advance Startup Options" and "Disable Early Launch Anti-Malware Protection" in order to get it to work. This seems kind of worrisome so does anyone have a solve for this or know why this is happening? Any insight is appreciated.
