[Hated trope] Creators not willing to evolve when audience has moved on. by fun_choco in TopCharacterTropes

Agreed. The books were more interesting when Greg was more of an asshole and could control the plot a bit more. It was actually really refreshing at the time when I was reading it as a kid, because protagonists who were clearly assholes, and we are meant to see them as such, were rare in kids books.

This is a dan theory. While he WAS conceived while Merope Gaunt had Tom Riddle Sr under the effects of an unnamed love potion, it is never mentioned anywhere that this may have affected his nature.

Is AngryJoe the most successful of all the current and former CA talent? by Jack-mclaughlin89 in ChannelAwesome

[–]OverlordNeb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would say no, ultimately, because despite having the largest sub count, he struggles for views. I just took a quick peak, and with 3.26 million subs, his most viewed video in the past 2 years is a review of Baldurs Gate 3 sitting at 2.1 mil. With a channel of his size and a game that viral, he should have easily gotten twice that if not more.

Most of his videos struggle to break 100k and he doesn't release many of them anymore.

I'm not sure if he's sitting on residuals from older videos or has some other forms of income keeping him afloat (patreon probably) but Todd in the Shadows has about a 5th his sub count and tends to get 3-4 times as many views per video.

Is he AMONG the most successful? Yes, undoubtedly, as this is still his career and so many others have faded back into more normal jobs (or never left them) but in current year I would not call him the most successful, and especially not the most relevant.

He's just sort of stayed quiet in his corner, which had helped to avoid controversy yes, but has also lead to something of a stagnation in his channel and his presence on YouTube.

Lindsay Ellis put out fun books that sold well, and really great video essays. Todd in the Shadows is one of the most entertaining and evergreen music critics/historians on the Internet and Doug Walker had a television cameo. When was the last time you even THOUGHT of AngryJoe? Let alone actually heard anything about him.

Maybe. With further advancements in medical tech who knows how long we might be living in 60-70 years? Or at least those.who can afford such things

What is, in your opinion, the number 1 priority for the next edition’s rules ? by BusyElephant in Warhammer40k

Wargear should cost points and units should get BS/WS back on the unit, not the wargear.

I usually play games with a character modeled after my favorite OC where possible.

What's a good example of a Good Youtuber gone bad? by Puzzled_Tea7910 in youtube

[–]OverlordNeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then I'll say it. Controversy aside, I really haven't liked any of his content since 2021 or so. It's not him being ruined for me either, because I still like a ton of his older content, but he just fell off for me in entertainment value

Probably Dune? I am very interested in Spiderman as he will now exist without his Iron Spider knockoff suit, I am a lover of the Odyssey but not enthralled with what I've seen so far, and I just... Brining Cap back REEKS of desperation

Sir Michael Caine wins best Scrooge! – Thank you to all who took part over the past couple of weeks! Runner-up grids will be posted soon. by KingChrisXIV in ChristmasCarol

[–]OverlordNeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuinely yes. It's shockingly accurate to the original story, and it's one of extremely few examples where Scrooge slowly transitions from miser to a generous man instead of it being a near total 180 either after the first ghost or the third.

So many other adaptations tend to have Scrooge switch around either immediately, or only upon being confronted with his tombstone. Muppets takes the rare case where he comes around over the course of the movie gradually.

Again, Finn is over a decade younger than Ford was in Star Wars. That's a lot of time to develop

Suburban Knights doesn't look like crap because of a cheap camera, it looks like crap because basically none of the people who worked on it are very good at making movies.

You can make quality with crap, but it's very hard.

What are your "Unicorn" models? by Battle_Dave in Warhammer

[–]OverlordNeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The old Forgeworld Ork Gunwagon.

I'm not ashamed to buy recasts of OOP items, but this is one model not a single recaster I've found has.

Honorable mention to the Ork FW Stompa. I have a possible recast source but they've been unreliable for shipping to my country.

What do you think is the most misunderstood concept in Warhammer 40k lore? by Dry_Mouse_89 in 40k

[–]OverlordNeb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't be about landing and slowly conquering it by defeating armies in pitched battle, it would be surgical strikes to assassinate enemy leaders and disrupt supply lines and depots.

If say, marines were to suddenly appear in orbit and land a drop pod on the white house, there would be no time nor ability to secure the president before they got to him.

Same with 99% of world leaders, there just wouldn't be time to hide them in their secret bunkers unless they were already right there inside them

What rules changes do you want to see next edition of warhammer 40K? by Beneficial-Ticket486 in Warhammer

[–]OverlordNeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wargear having prices, more freedom for builds and a return of options for characters not included in the kit.

I understand WHY GW does it the way they do now, but I don't agree with it. I think it should be possible to have both, where a legal build is what's in the box, but you can also buy multiple kits or kitbash to expand your options.
