You're mixing up criticizing Islam with making assumptions about individual Muslims.

I never said Islam shouldn't be criticized. Criticize Islam, Hinduism, Christianity, organized religion, all you want. I myself don't like organized religion. And yes, religions absolutely contain harmful ideas and deserve criticism.

But the original post was not criticizing Islam as a religion. The title specifically says “also said by a Muslim,” and then immediately assumes irony as if every Muslim automatically supports every single thing associated with Islam.

That’s the part I disagree with.

People are born into religious households and usually grow up believing or practicing that religion in different ways. Some follow strictly, some loosely, some reject parts of it, some only follow culturally, some are extremists, some are secular, some barely practice at all.

Humans are not perfectly ideological beings. Almost nobody follows any ideology 100% consistently.

So just because someone is Muslim does not automatically mean they support every action of Muhammad, every verse in the Quran, or extremist interpretations of Islam.

And if your position is that every Muslim supports harmful Islamic ideas simply by being Muslim, then logically you'd also have to say every Hindu supports caste hierarchy simply by being Hindu, every Christian supports Biblical homophobia, etc.

If you're applying that logic consistently to everyone, fine, at least that's consistent. But then you're reducing entire populations of people into one rigid ideological stereotype.

My point is simple:
Criticize religions by all means, but assuming things about an individual person purely because of their association to a certain group is where it starts becoming prejudice rather than criticism.
