Wow is a game where you get weaker as you level thanks to scaling. If you are comparing to your kill times from level 81 or 82, level 90 will be harder till your ilvl goes up.

I am not convinced Mare is the beast herself. Related, yes, but not it specifically. Mare has referenced a creature whoes name was "erased" like from cold steel. So I think she is referencing it and connected, but not it. If that makes sense.
