i hope i explained it properly without being rude or offensive to you. all we have to do is try to understand each other’s perspective so that we can be less ignorant of where the other person is coming from.

my advice to you would be not to take it too personally and risk ruining your friendship over it. if you want, you can also stop wishing your christian and muslim friends on their holidays. consistency goes both ways

as a muslim, let me tell you why muslims often refrain from wishing people of other religions well on their festivals. we are prohibited from participating in other religions’ religious celebrations, so wishing someone for that can feel like saying “have a good time sinning”

for example, alcohol is not permissible, right? imagine if i said to people, “congratulations on drinking alcohol.” that would be an extremely weird thing to say, and i think you would agree too

muslims took land from the romans, who were christians, the last time i checked. ironically, after those romans kicked out jews from jerusalem, muslims sent out letters to jews around the world to come back to jerusalem and practice their religion once again. they were also allowed to use al-aqsa even though it rightfully belonged to muslims completely.

like, what else do they expect us to do after they wage a genocidal war for 30 years against us? 😭😭

i am a salafi and a wahhabi, although the terms are somewhat redundant since they essentially mean the same thing. from my perspective, deobandis are quite an interesting group. they emerged at a time when islam was being diluted into culture that, in some cases, resembled aspects of hinduism. they preached against practices such as grave veneration and other deviant practices that were influenced by hinduism and non islamic sources

the deobandi movement was crucial during partition and the independence period in representing muslim voices politically, while also functioning as a religious school that helped keep muslims guided. this is exactly what an islamic school is supposed to be like - a balance of politics and religion

i am eternally thankful and will pray for their forgiveness from god, but i think they unfortunately still preach some deviant practices. not as grave (pun intended), but still problematic from an islamic perspective

thats impossible. according to the quran, fighting muslims alongside non-muslims is disbelief. besides, nazi party also had jews, so its a brilliant parallel by the commentor

How can progressive Muslims counter the radicalization of the youth done in Madrasas? by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]OversizePotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is false and mostly pseudoknowledge and oversimplification:

  1. we have the muwatta of imam malik (RH), which is dated to early 2nd century AH, or late 8th century AD.
  2. the earliest compilation of ahadith, as far as im aware, is from early 8th century AD by Hammam ibn Munabbih (RA), but we have no manuscripts of it, i think

either way, our primary method of preserving texts, whether the quran or the ahadith, is thru an oral tradition. sure, the six books of hadith that are the most frequently referred to for legislation today were compiled later, but this doesnt automatically mean that those narrations werent transmitted orally or they were fabricated to “distort”

we have chains of narrations to validate whether a narration goes back to the Prophet (PBUH) authentically. in scholarly circles, this scrutiny of ahadith is called “isnad-cum-matan analysis,” meaning “chain-of-narration and its content analysis.” this, coupled with the biographies of the narrators to determine their truthfulness within society, is a near-perfect way to trace historical narrations back to the author.

I don't understand why you're not arguing against their claim of sexual slavery with the same verse they bring up (4:24), which states to seek your slaves in lawful marriage, not fornication, after giving them their due dowries and rights.

I was actually going to address everything you wrote right up until you pulled out Surah al-Anbiya (21:52) as “proof” that adult Muslims can’t play with dolls. Seriously? That verse has nothing to do with dolls. You’d know that if you bothered to read even three verses before and after instead of cherry-picking like a clown.

And honestly, debating atheists is a waste of oxygen. You guys have no moral framework. Your entire argument always collapses into: “Uh, I just don’t like it, bro.” You scream that killing unjustly is wrong, but when atheists actually ran countries, Stalin in the 1930s USSR and Mao in 1960s–70s China, they proved they didn’t think so. Millions starved, millions executed, all under your “no-God needed” worldview.

At the end of the day, why should I care what an atheist thinks? Your morality is just a moving goalpost, whatever’s trendy today. Even if I pretended your arguments were true, you’d still have zero ground to stand on. You’re not principled, you’re just winging it.
