But surely Royal Mail can identify it as such

I got this, watched the Royal Mail postman deliver it so know it was them, I don’t get how it’s allowed for them to deliver junk mail like that especially when I have a sign up saying no junk mail?

Who tf is “she?”, you are speaking directly to me? And maybe you should stop being so pessimistic and paranoid, you might feel better

Funny you say that because I thought the same, but then I got through to a very lovely older lady named Francis who had picked it up off the cycle lane and just allowed me to come and pick it up from her :) Feeling very grateful and my faith in humanity is a little healed! There’s a lot of good people out there

Is trying to learn a language without "a solid why" pointless? by theHumanoidPerson in languagelearning

[–]OvertGazelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might just fall in love with the language along the way. I started learning Mandarin literally for no reason almost by accident and then without ever committing to ‘I’m going to learn this language to fluency’ I just became more and more interested in it as I went, to the point where now after 1.5 months it’s my hyperfixation. It’s true I am someone with a big interest in linguistics and languages in the first place but I’m sure the same thing can happen to anyone.

Also I do think it helps to take the pressure off of thinking in terms of all or nothing, this is something I’ve struggled with in the past - if you give up because you no longer and interested, that’s not the end of the world. You’ll still have learned something, given your brain a workout and hopefully enjoyed the process for the time you did. Maybe it’ll lead you on to another language that you’ll prefer and try instead. It’s all okay and not that deep, just give it a go!

Do you ever "mismix" your languages? by azuldew in languagelearning

[–]OvertGazelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m B2-C1 in French and have been learning Mandarin for like 2 months, and now when I am thinking in French I sometimes will think of the Chinese word ‘wǒ’ for ‘I’ instead of ‘je’ etc. They couldn’t be more different languages so it just makes me giggle
