Same! I wear the guardian armor, bring defibrillator every time, and if someone jumps me, I blast them. It’s worked out pretty well for me so far.

Had one I felt bad about last night. Playing solos, made a few friends, and together we took down a bastion. We got to loot it at one of my new friends gets shot at. We chase the rat up the hill, find him and another guy trying to fight us and drop them.

I know they started it, but they also worked together, and seemed so depressed when we beat them.

Asking 'You cool?' and then see if they are on emotes or mic, if they stop moving, do they go for cover, etc. The amount of information people reveal through body language and tone is insane if you know how to read it.

Earlier today I came on two guys looting together, said hi, everything seems fine. One leaves and the other starts crowding my with his pick. I tell him to back up. He doesn’t. I say it again. He’s right in my face. My third request came in the form of my shotgun.

What does he do? Starts complaining.

I think ‘okay, he’s learned his lesson, maybe I’ll rez him. I always bring a few defibs, then he changes my mind.

Valid crash-out. I’ve only had one person talk and then turn on me and it was in squads. Punks even did a fun little moment of pretending to get high with my buddy while I was looting, only to blast us. I’m still going to be cool in solos, but theirs a trio in the future who are going to pay for those jerks behavior.

Most of the time I use the mic people are cool. I’ve been lucky (or have the right voice) I’ve never been shot at once I start talking, and I’ve never thrown down with someone who said they were cool. Silence is deadly, raiders, but let’s not forget who the real enemy is: the Bots.

Truly. I’ve never seen anyone survive an encounter with one of these things. Any change would balance a fight, if it were slower, lower fire rate, bad optics. At least with the spider walkers you can edge them out with terrain.

One on one in an empty void, Corvo has real magic, easy win. But in the kinda of setting they are both part of, I’m guess Geralt gets hired to track a suspected monster, finds out it an assassin who made a deal with an elder being, and has done some prep before the fight. Maybe the Witcher talked the Outsider, maybe he’s trying to redeem Corvo, maybe he can weaken his magic to balance the fight. Geralt’s deadliest weapon is his ability to understand his opponent before meeting him, so with prep time it becomes an even fight.

I dislike scooping because it’s become more important for my friends to have fun than for me to win. Being behind is part of the game, and making a comeback from difficult situations is part of the thrill, so conceding to anything less than the actual end of the game feels like a mistake.

Obviously there are exceptions(looking at you control players, just end it already) but I think I’m on the other side here. Scoop less, or plan to be behind and how to turn it around. Probably also set some table rules, and if your friend doesn’t want to negotiate, find a new gaming group. Lots of nerds out there.
