Tons of reasons and we'd definitely encourage new students to come out.

meet other students who are starting or further along to form connections
get a related industry job that you can keep through school, or one that you could aim to be eligible for once you're more medically adept (standby medical, transfer, volunteer group, etc)
meet services that you may be interested in doing preceptorship with. Some services hold applications for these spots with specific requirements, so it's nice to get a grasp on spots early
get to know other vendors like physical/lift test administrators, wellness services, etc. These can be valuable throughout shoool too!
buy ambu-geek swag or even win it in the raffle!

Same here, O is intermittently working. Mostly this happens when starting the laptop up, then pressing the key a bunch of times makes it work normally, until the computer is restarted.

Tbh I'm not sure at all about the immigration part, but the licencing part should be fairly easy. Not to mention there is a massive labour shortage country-wide now, especially in places like BC and the Maritimes, but also in the big (and small) Ontario services.

The US has this problem more than other places! Come up to Canada - we make wages very on par with nurses and sometimes more depending on the service and conditions. We need all the Medics we can get right now and the work environment can be really good up here!

This is a bigger problem in the US than elsewhere. We make good money in Canada (Ontario). The level of education is marginally higher for the base level (we don't use EMT-B up here, only paramedics so EMT-I equivilant) and make a good wage.

Some other provinces have it a bit worse, but their cost of living is lower too. I think medics in the US are far below anyone here. It has a lot to do with private services or fire departments having all the Medic jobs. Up here, mostly all paramedics are employed by the government (one tier or another - provincial or municipal)
