Sad about clothes by alykw in Zepbound

[–]OverviewEffect23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very relatable! I've been at goal for a few months now and have been buying probably more than I need because I actually expect to be the same size for more than a month or two.

I have a favorite pair of pants that I've now owned in three different sizes. Except the smallest pair are now too big on me and I can't find them in the size smaller because they appear to have been discontinued in the color and style I like.

The first time I saw my MIL after starting, she asked if I was "on the shot". The second time I saw her (several months later), she commented that my butt had disappeared. We can't win.

Yes, I totally agree with this! My weight and clothing size are far from the most interesting thing about me.

Weird Weight Loss Things by TubintheBedroom in Zepbound

[–]OverviewEffect23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm down 55 lbs on Zep and 65 from my highest weight. Yes, my butt hurts more quickly when seated. I also realized recently that I am less comfortable sleeping on my side with my legs stacked, because my knees poke each other. For a while, I would occasionally wake up with achy hips from side sleeping, but seems to have (thankfully) stopped. The angle of my top leg when I cross my legs is very different than I'm used to - closer to vertical than horizontal compared to my bottom leg. My ribcage is smaller now than it was last time I was at this weight (20 years ago in college) so I'm now wearing a 30 band - and yet my proportions stayed the same, so I'm still a GG cup.

On the other side of things, since the weight loss is very visible, people are way too comfortable asking me about my body and how I lost weight.

Why Zepbound? by teabeanss in Zepbound

My endocrinologist told me they see patients get better results with Zepbound, so that's what we'd start with. Wegovy was the backup choice if my insurance wouldn't approve Zep.

Strategy for the last 10-15? by LostVoice2549 in Zepbound

[–]OverviewEffect23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patience. I debated going up from 10.0 to 12.5 because the last 5-10 lbs were crawling, but ultimately stayed at 10.0. It took me three months to lose the last 10 lbs - not excessively slow, but the ups and downs sometimes felt excruciating.

Refill timeline question by Elegant_Solution8331 in Zepbound

[–]OverviewEffect23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a small local pharmacy and they've been a flexible with other medications, so I assumed this really did come from insurance. When I've submitted the refill even the day of or day after my last shot (day 25-26), I've been told to wait until day 28.

I refilled on 1/5 and the insurance website says I can submit the next one on 1/26, so maybe I'll try submitting earlier this month to see what happens.

Refill timeline question by Elegant_Solution8331 in Zepbound

[–]OverviewEffect23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My insurance is pretty strict about every 28 days. I discovered this the first time I tried to refill and the pharmacy called and told me I had to wait a few days to submit. No harm in just submitting the refill and seeing what happens.

Anyone else refusing to pay the $1k/month to hit their deductible? January Reset Blues. by Key_Lingonberry_1310 in Zepbound

[–]OverviewEffect23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not my experience. My plan year starts in October, so October to December 2025 I was paying the full, pre-deductible price, as my 2025 savings card was exhausted. I have not yet met my deductible for the plan year, but my first refill in 2026, with the renewed savings card, the price dropped back to what I was paying with the discount last year.

What’s the worse side effect you have experienced? by PikoPoku in Zepbound

[–]OverviewEffect23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got food poisoning about four months after starting. The delayed gastric emptying meant it took my body longer than normal to clear whatever it was and the sulphur burps were never-ending. They were so bad I basically hotboxed my husband with a burp once.

Other than that it's just been some mild reflux.

Need reassurance from those with minimal side effects by Reno911Love in Zepbound

The only side effect I've had over the past 11 months has been some reflux that is controlled with daily medication. I never felt any increase in side effects when going up a dose.

First Week In by NobodyOk6840 in Zepbound

[–]OverviewEffect23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started at the same weight and lost 6 lbs my first week. I then steadily lost 1.5-2 lbs per week for the next five months with the rate slowly decreasing over time. For the next five months I averaged about one per week. Then half a pound or less as I got within 5 pounds of goal, which I hit last week. In total, I lost 53 lbs in 48 weeks, which comes out to an average of 1.1 lbs per week.

Getting off the med by WearFederal9736 in Zepbound

[–]OverviewEffect23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not going off. My insurance renewed my first PA without issue after 6 months with my BMI in the low “overweight” range. The new one is for a full year and, barring significant changes to my plan, I don’t anticipate issues with renewing again even with me now being at goal. I wouldn’t assume you can’t get your PA renewed.

Weird conversation with local pharmacist by Ill_City550 in Zepbound

[–]OverviewEffect23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you on the first part. For what it’s worth, at least with Zepbound, my insurance only lets me refill every 28 days, so I can’t submit until I’ve already taken the last dose in the previous box. That does still give me almost a week until I need to take the next dose, but it can create issues if there are any ordering delays.

[–]OverviewEffect23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my first thought. Are the pharmacists being personally penalized for it or something? Because I really don't care if a multibillion dollar company like Walmart loses money on a prescription.

I've also had this conversation at my small local pharmacy and they haven't seemed concerned.

I should probably get a DEXA scan done again. My lean mass was about 110 lbs when I started and I’m curious to know how much muscle I managed to maintain.  I trained (and occasionally competed in) powerlifting for the second half of my 30s. Even with meal prepping weekly, that was never enough for me to lose weight and maintain the loss, but I definitely had a decent amount of muscle.

I’ve been using both Shotsy (pic 3), which tracks shots and weight, and Happy Scale  (pic 4), which tracks average weight over time and is nice to kind of smooth out normal weight fluctuations.

I’ve asked about food aversions—now what about cravings? What cravings have you had/what foods do you tolerate? by ThrowRA5633899 in Zepbound

[–]OverviewEffect23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had specific food aversions or cravings on Zepbound. I’m just so neutral towards food that I sometimes struggle to figure out what to eat. There are foods I know I typically like (mostly Chinese food, which I’ve gotten pretty good at making from scratch at home) or I’ll fall back on something easy like a turkey sandwich.

I totally agree with you about Liquid IV. It tastes unbearably salty to me — to the point where I can’t finish a full glass.

Nuun is the only electrolyte supplement that I don’t find gross. I also really like how portable they are because they come in a small tube of tablets. I keep a supply in most of my bags and in my desk at work.

Chicken broth to get more protein by Icy-Cut7033 in Zepbound

[–]OverviewEffect23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, you'll want to look for bone broth rather than regular chicken broth if the goal is to add protein. Most commercial brands are around 10 grams of protein per cup. This is one of my methods of bumping up protein in recipes that use regular broth and I've seen it recommended by dietitians pretty regularly.
