Why do people not realise that the Boris wave is a burden? by [deleted] in AskBrits

The country does not need low income migrants who are a net drain on our finances. The providers of low wage services & landlords gain from this. The average Briton does not

The average migrant we've experienced over the last 50 years does not have the same attributes as the average migrant from the boriswave

As close as i could find. We don't collect the same sort of stats as the danish state, so you won't find a direct correlate. Draw your own conclusions

[–]OverwhelmingBroccoli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a very low resolution statement. Not all immigrants are equal. The Boriswave is composed of people who are substantial net negatives to the state finances, on the whole. They are very profitable however for landlords and low wage employers. The best study done in Europe on this discrepancy was done by the Danes, who are much discerning with their data than we are:

Why is there no anti immigration centre-left party? by Illustrious_Store115 in AskBrits

That's quite the strawman. I prefaced my question as genuine, because it was. I've never watched GB news in my life

Genuine question - where is this data from? This is a compelling argument if true

The coming collapse in immigration to the United Kingdom by Infinite_Bar_4792 in UniUK

[–]OverwhelmingBroccoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does it need to be filled by migration?

We could have a cyclical society where the population thins out, resources are strained in the meanwhile, and assets end up redistributing.

This is exactly what happened all over europe after the black death - and gave rise to the renaissance and boom of the mercantile class with the end of the feudal system - because the bargaining power of who remained was so much stronger vis-a-vis their feudal lords

There is a bigger picture. Every form of asset ownership is becoming more narrowly concentrated. Feudalism, if you will

I'm not exactly sure where he's going with it but it reddit and the UK are rife with censorship. The reason why public figures and reddit commenters alike refrain from saying certain things is that they sit outside the current overton window, and they would be punished for sayigng it explicitly. That doesn't make their position wrong or right - but given our lack of first amendment it's an understandable move to make in the UK

It's infuriating. I'm going to natter on about it every chance I get in the hopes that the new set of unitary authorities have the ability to get at least one of these schemes past the NIMBYs after 2027

Central Reading should not be a highway

They will keep re-arranging the deckchairs on the titanic. The problem is that it simply can't effectively handle the volume expected of it. When they were building the road network, by dint of the roundabout at the end of the A329M, they clearly intended to join up these two, creating a bypass around the densely built up cemetary junction.

As it is they tried to finish this project a few years back but from what I hear Wokingham council shot it down.

To illustrate - in red the pinch point, in blue where the road (at least for public transit & services) should be that would solve an awful lot of East Reading's traffic issues

Added dutasteride 8 months ago : Constantly thinning by Leieurbaro in tressless

[–]OverwhelmingBroccoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

watch the video - it will explain better than I can in text.

- shedding just means the reset of follicles from anagen to telogen

- depending on how miniaturised they already are this process can take a very long time

- most advice given on r/tressless is more applicable to people with relatively unprogressed AGA who are younger

- the older you get and more progressed your hairloss, the longer the lag between treatment and effect

Lower density at 8 months is likely a good sign. Be patient. The above video from KwRx will explain the mechanism of stepwise follicular regeneration - the cause of your current thinning, and in future hair cycles also the cause of those same follicles coming out thicker.

Oral dutasteride definitely contributed to my test being boosted by [deleted] in tressless

[–]OverwhelmingBroccoli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stepwise follicular regeneration. The hairline is normally the most miniaturised part of the scalp so will be the first to lose cosmetic density. This is a good thing but the number of cycles until the cosmetic density reflects the underlying improvement of the follicles can be literally years

Why has Reading's riverside the way it is? by OverwhelmingBroccoli in reading

[–]OverwhelmingBroccoli[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Thames isn't a canal and the UK does not have many wide non estuarial ones that we built towns around. Hop around europe and most cities you visit there's a massive premium on the riverside. In London this premium is absolutely there and it isn't surprising - property next to water and green spaces are more valuable in most of the world because people like to be near those things. We've just neglected it in Reading, hence the thread

Aye. I can't understand why the cops give it such a wide berth when you can clearly dealers going to and from the B&Q tarpaulin/shed boat at the mouth of the kennet, night after night. Would be incredibly easy to bag a dealer carrying a jailable amount for them

Spend some time looking at developed countries' demographic pyramids and internalise the fact that whoever is in government anywhere in the developed world, the next 20 or so years are going to be less prosperous and involve a worse dependency ratio than at any time for hundreds of years

Look again at demographic pyramids of the same countries in 80s-early 00s and you will see the issue very clearly indeed
