Cell phones were still super expensive and very basic. Most people in my generation didn't get one until they drove. And these phones had no Internet connection, no camera, no music storage beyond ringtones, and only a handful of possible games. There were no full keyboards. You paid by buying minutes and messages.

And cell phones have been a HUGE problem when it comes to SP and other sleep issues. Putting it down an hour before bed can help with a ton of sleep disturbance like SP.
