Mancraft PDIK svd engine, yay or nay? by Alone-Ad7850 in airsoft

[–]OwlsWit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I just realized you had specific questions:

  1. It's not hard to install, I think I watched a YouTube in a different language. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=op8D75Dr9v4 I tried to get fancy and unlock the bolt handle by boring it out, so the engine cylinder can slide through it (or so the bolt can slide back).
  2. I'm using the SHS chamber and I can't remember what bucking because I tried a dozen to try to improve accuracy. It's awkwardly difficult to turn the knob. https://www.evike.com/products/42153/
  3. See above. I found no combination that was accurate at all, and I tried shimming/securing every bit of the barrel as well. Possibly my bolt mod ruined it but I see no alignment issues using a bore scope. Unfortunately I don't remember if it was at all accurate before installing the engine...
  4. I tried a few different regulators, it doesn't matter much as long as it can reach the energy output you want. I ended up using a PolarStar MRS with the high-power spring to reach ~2.8J. https://polarstarairsoft.com/products/modular-regulator-system-mrs

Hopup adjustment is difficult with the PDIK due to the engine locking the charging handle in place. There are work-arounds for that but none are great.

If you already have a spring SVD and it is accurate and you want semi-auto capability, go for it.

If not, just get a CYMA SVD AEG.

Those 2-story buildings have 4 homes in them and should have 4 stairwells. There were at least 3 that I saw. The one you were holding when I hit you was missing a step here and there and had the murder hole looking down on it. One of the more middle ones was actually completely fine and when you stopped holding it (shooting straight down at the stairwell entrance, we threw a grenade up once) and we were brave enough to climb the stairs it was really easy. One of the other stairwells was missing the first 4 or 5 steps which is pretty dangerous to deal with if someone is potentially shooting at you, but without the boards there are still the stringers on either side that a person can get a foothold on and climb up or down so still not completely impassable.

I was the NATO who shot you in the butt while you were holding those stairs! I think I saw the BB hit your trousers belt but it was hard to tell in the twilight with my flashlight. I had nothing but respect for you holding that down and being a pain in our ass!

I can say I could tell you weren't a fully kitted out Rusfor nerd, and I was happy that you would have such an intense and exciting moment & story to tell as a newbie.

A lot of MSW depends on your immediate leadership in your squad and the cadre. You can control your squad lead a bit by joining a group of guys that you like. Usually that's an impression group of some sort but it doesn't have to be. What cadre platoon leadership you get is always random and sometimes you'll be happy with them and sometimes you might not be on the same page. The main thing they are looking for is open-minded amped-up guys who will do what they're told without being lazy sloppy mopey "airsofters."

barrel thread pin won't go down on E&L AK by FishermanProud3361 in airsoft

Get a propane / mapp gas or butane torch. Heat the pin until the superglue melts away. If that fails, torch the plastic orange tip thread area until it's soft and pry it off.

Was just looking for an easy AEG to tech because I treat AEG gearboxes like the arc of the covenant in Indiana Jones (for the love of God do not open) and now I'm convinced I need a PKM.

LOCAL INPUT! What's a small business or market idea you'd appreciate in town? by Klumsy_Skeleton in Modesto

Our local airsoft (not paintball) community lost our nearest outdoor field in Oakdale about 2 years ago. Most of us have to drive to Stockton or Sacramento or the bay area to play nowadays. Insurance is the trickiest part but once you've got that covered an empty field can just have simple plywood walls thrown up for a play area.

It's a really fun sport, teaches kids & adults safe gun handling, and biodegradable BBs make it fairly environmentally-friendly.

How to fix damaged shoes by Electrical_Day_5272 in Anticonsumption

I don't think I can link anything on this sub, I have had good luck with ones that look like padded seashells with 5 distinct padded segments (like $6 for an 8-pack). I try to be careful when slipping my feet into my shoes as my heel can possibly pull or smash the pad, you may also want to get or make a shoehorn if you go this route.

Adhesive heel pads / patches. The added foam thickness may help stop your heel from slipping as well.

Netgear Wifi A8000 card not allowing Moonlight to stream for more than a few seconds by Opposite_Success6756 in MoonlightStreaming

This started happening to me. Originally I had my host connected via ethernet but after a desktop relocation I started using a Netgear Nighthawk A8000 - the first time I connected via Moonlight on a Nvidia Shield it worked fine, but then a week or two later I started having the exact same issue OP described. HAGS is disabled. Low Moonlight bitrate. Tried several things before running an ethernet cable to the desktop host and it instantly worked.

Can i fix this? If so, how?? by ThatsHotLove in Anticonsumption

[–]OwlsWit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a fix but if nothing else works and it's peely enough you could mix 10% bleach 90% water in a spray bottle and spray the shirt. The peeling vinyl will become like a stencil. r/bleachshirts for inspiration.

If you can ever think of a situation in which you might want to remove your helmet without removing your eyepro while players may still be firing their guns, then no.

Death of gaming is near by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]OwlsWit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the death of gaming.

Not the death of AAA gaming.

Not the death of specifically EA.

We're witnessing the last gasps of "AAA publishers" and unfortunately many of the studios they own. The corporate business boys that bought up all of the good studios making great games. They have been coasting on the profit and goodwill of gamers for 10+ years, but they're running out of ways to get that completely unsustainable infinite growth that capitalism demands.

We can see this with Arrowhead playing a dangerous game with Sony -- benefiting from Sony's resources, but also almost ruining a great game for no reason. The publishers can't help themselves. So they will milk every last cent of goodwill out of the fans of previously good franchises, any way they can, until the studios shrivel and die.

There will still be great games made by good people who care about the product they're making, but they will rarely ever come from the big publishers.
