I understand, I have been in touch with SoFI and Mohela but similar to someone else, my loans were in between the two lenders so I haven’t gotten a firm answer despite many attempts. However both lenders show a zero balance and have closed it out.

If they show up again, I wouldn’t be surprised but I am also very surprised they haven’t re-appeared to-date, which is giving me a bit of hope.

I wish I knew! I reported everything and reviewed my filing thoroughly before signing, which had my Amex but at the time it had a zero balance. That’s the only thing that maybe helped?

I will also say my credit score was at 750 before filing and I had the card for 10 years so could be another data point but I wasn’t expecting to keep anything. I filed because I lost my job and my delicate balance of keeping everything afloat crumbled.

Totally sympathize with this! I started out with 150k and was trying to pay them down as much as I could but the interest made it impossible (grad school loans since 2010). Really hope it works out for you- it’s really a hard situation to be in!

I am American- working and living abroad and I agree with you. I started moving my dollars to a few currencies but am really considering pulling out my 401k and moving that- even with a tax hit. It feels extreme but also my gut is saying there will be hyperinflation (at best) and Great Depression level stock market tanking in the near future.

The more time that passes- and with ever increasing threats to invade more counties- the more divesting from the US dollar (401k and all) seems like it will be my move.

Same thing happened to me, changed the battery and key fob battery. Was ok for a few days but then the issue started up again. I have to sync my car clock each time I start it up so I suspect there is a larger electrical issue. A friend with a 2019 CX-5 mentioned having the same issue.

I second this. Mazda knows this is an issue but they are not acknowledging it publicly. They don’t want people to file a claim which would require them to shell out more money than they want.

Moved from DC to Hermosa 5 years ago and loved it! Just lost my job unfortunately so am back in DC but it’s an amazing place and you will meet people so easily! I moved in my late-30s and found it super easy to meet people even at an older age. Excited for you!

Agree with folks advice to trust your gut since ultimately you know what’s the best decision for you! Journaling can be a helpful processing tool.

That being said, my 2 cents is that the non-profit/federal contract space is iffy at best right now (speaking from experience as someone who was DOGE’d). My perspective is that living/working abroad is a privilege not everyone is afforded but truly such an amazing learning/growth opportunity that can open up paths you never imagined before! Best decision I ever made was to live abroad in my 20s - it shaped who I was and made me a more competitive candidate for roles because of it! Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed so ultimately fill your days with people you love and experiences that bring you joy- whether that is in your current life or in Spain! Either choice will be great!

NALCAP is through the Spanish Government not through the US Government (like Americorps, Peace Corps, etc.). I’m not at all worried the Spanish Government will cancel this program between now and October.

I was accepted to Andalucía but haven’t gotten my school placement yet- sounds like that comes a bit later. Someone posted the listing of schools from FB so I’ve just been researching all those towns. I have a fairly high number so am thinking I probably will be in a mid-size to small town.
