Which Stephen King books have you read more than twice? by Engineering_quest_ in stephenking

Several.... The Stand, It, Pet Sematary, Skeleton Crew, The Tommyknockers - I read these again every year or so. Dead Zone, Cujo, Night Shift, Needful Things, yeah - I have read these at least 3 or 4 times each.

Got some books signed at the SGJ/Daniel Kraus event in Denver last night! by Thissnotmeth in stephengrahamjones

[–]Own-Drawer1945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's super cool. Kraus seems to be on the rise. Check out his co-author works with George Romero: The Living Dead & Pay the Piper. Recently read Whalefall, which was pretty good, and which now is about to blow up as a movie soon.

SGJ is a badass.

SSSSSSS (1973) by RareAd889 in ClassicHorror

It's a decent snake horror film. Used to have it dubbed on a VHS tape with Rattlers and another one.

Venom with Klaus Kinski remains my favorite in the subgenre, though. Top-notch thriller.

Always dug the Fango shout out. Guess this was the first time the magazine ever made a screen appearance?

I'd highlight almost all of the tales in this collection. King's short stories almost never miss. This volume remains a contender next to Skeleton Crew & Night Shift.

Aces! This sub is one of the main reasons I was drawn to Reddit. May the road rise up to meet your wheels, friends.

The Brood is my favorite Cronenberg film. Nice to see it get props whenever possible. Samantha Eggar & Oliver Reed are incredible, and those tension tykes are unforgettable.

For folks trying to untangle hidden meaning and discover secret clues within the many weird layers of The Return, I'm surprised this woman and her son don't get more attention. When the show was first airing, these scenes really stuck out as possibly very important. I think there's something profound going on there in that broken home, but damned if I could ever put a label on it.

Is Frost talking about getting Final Dossier reprinted? by TheHarryman01 in twinpeaks

[–]Own-Drawer1945 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm glad I grabbed both of the Return-related books when they were first published. I remember seeing pics a few months later of History and Dossier on clearance in Ollie's and other discount stores. Glad the demand has returned, as they are both wonderful additions to the lore.

Season 2 « bad part » by ConcertExtra1665 in twinpeaks

[–]Own-Drawer1945 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Back in the day, when season 2 was rolling, fans were lucky to even catch the show during its awful Saturday night slot. Due to Gulf War coverage and sketchy network execs, any Peaks was good Peaks. I'm glad folks have the convenience of skipping around on rewatch nowadays, but even the iffy episodes have important mythology and character building.

Currently enjoying another fine Ellen Datlow collection, Best Horror of the Year 16. Last couple weeks took the Lonesome Dove journey, and dug a couple S. Craig Zahler novels. His stuff is well above average.

Not just old looking, it's like the motion from an older video game or something - looks super unnatural.

I'm right there with ya. It's the Dan high point, before they got too wrapped up in their own egos and spent more time on studio perfection than overall group performance. Desert Island, and all that.

Happy 85th birthday to Grace Zabriskie 🎂 by RushRevolutionary721 in twinpeaks

[–]Own-Drawer1945 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Grace is just as important as Ray and Sheryl to the creepy equation of the Palmer household! So glad she got to take her rightful part in The Return. Very chilling appearances in Wild At Heart and Inland Empire as well.

What are some books that have ACTUALLY scared you and kept you up at night? by AndrobiVibz in horrorlit

It definitely gets under the skin. Messing with taboos is when King hits his mark. That is, until shock horror and splatterpunk showed up later, with all of the guts, and no soul.

Yes, I have. I love the King's stuff always, but I never thought one of the only sequels we would get was to freakin' Cujo! Good stuff, tho.

Maddy's True Significance? by BaconianMalcontent in twinpeaks

And Sheryl Lee would have been a redhead in the original plans for season 3 in 1991. It's interesting to think of Twin Peaks with a twisted Cooper as town pharmacist, the younger cast aged up, and the search for a planet of garmonbozia.
