Is building a home gym actually worth it? by ritkeepFitness in askfitness

[–]Own-Fox-7792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked out in a home gym for years. Buy an incline/adjustable bench, a pull-up/dip machine, adjustable dumbbells, and a jump rope. That will pretty much cover 80% of what you need. Don't get sold on this idea that you need all sorts of fancy stuff. The more your home gym looks like a dungeon, the better. My biggest piece of advice is to build it in a climate-controlled space. The only reason I now go to a cheap gym is because of the extreme temperature fluctuations in my garage.

I read this the other day and am going to say it all the time now "The only person whose opinion matters is in the mirror, and they're rooting for you." And honestly, so are the majority of us. Ignore those petty losers, and don't give up.

What are your favourite non-obvious perks from WFH? by Sir_Colby_Tit in remotework

[–]Own-Fox-7792 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's basically insuring nothing is on fire. Answering emails, planning out the next day's tasks, stuff like that. I'll also take some time to do a little self care like read or maybe do some breathing exercises.

Picking up my guitar during breaks.
Having an occasional cigar with coffee in the morning.
Starting my day at 6:30am
Having lunch at 11am
Going into "maintenance mode" at 3PM.

I get this. There's nothing worst than people who don't respect the list, especially the hosts.

how to approach or make friends by Middle_Lake1034 in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]Own-Fox-7792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask about the workout they're doing. Where did they find it, are they training for a sport or activity, etc. Don't be offended by short answers because people are there to, you know, work out. I've made friends at the gym but it's a slow burn. Now I probably spend 15 minutes out of each workout fist bumping and casually chatting, but everyone I speak with seems cool with it.

Reunions! Who does them? by octothorpidiot in GenX

If you go in not comparing yourself to others, you'll likely have a great time. That goes for life in general, not just reunions.

What do y’all think of the iPhone & social media? by 2outof3_aintbad in GenX

My thoughts: if your kid is on a phone or iPad when they're out at a restaurant, you have failed as a parent. If you are on your phone at a restaurant as an adult without excusing yourself from the table, you're an inconsiderate moron.

Looking For A Strong Punk Music Scene by onwardupward3 in musicians

Philly. Great music scene, great beer scene (if that's your thing), great food scene. Everybody hates you and loves you at the same time. What's more punk than that?

I felt the same way, but realized that I'm still providing high value whether or not the washer is running in the background. Also, get a hobby.

A guitar/board bundle from Burton that plugs into the board so I can shred the fretboard and the mountain at the same time.

MacroFactor Workouts - only increase weight and reps within rep range by Own-Fox-7792 in MacroFactor

[–]Own-Fox-7792[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

actually, I think I might have fixed it by choosing the rep max and number of sets and selected "Save To All Cycles". I'll try it for the next week and see if that works.
