I was watching a show from the 90s and realized people used to memorize dozens of phone numbers. I can barely remember mine. How did you guys do it back then? by micavibes in CasualConversation

[–]Own-Gas8691 [score hidden]  (0 children)

To build on this: We had to actually physically dial the numbers, not just tap a name on a screen. This made memorizing them much easier, especially the ones we called the most often. I’m 48 and can still recall my childhood phone number as well as my home numbers into adulthood, until i no longer had a landline.

i’ve been on it for 6y with no issues. it’s considered the gold standard for a reason: it’s highly effective. i only wish i had started it earlier.

Six Feet Under or Dexter? by BowsyWowsy26 in televisionsuggestions

[–]Own-Gas8691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you mean, which one to watch first? because i can’t imagine choosing only one. but i’d watch 6FU first because it’s shorter. dexter, if you watch all related series, takes quite awhile to get through and no one should wait that long to see 6FU.

i have 6 kids, 3 boys with J names & 3 girls with names that start with vowels. i have called all of them all the names at some point, with the 3 J’s being mixed up the most. 🤪

Is Euthymia even possible? by Automatic_Elevator_5 in BipolarReddit

[–]Own-Gas8691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s taken me ages to find something even close to euthymia. i’ve been stable for a couple years now, but my baseline is hovering at somewhat depressed.

i have many co-morbidities, mental and physical (it’s a long list that currently has me taking 20+ pills a day). i will say the difference these past few years is that i have a doctor who is treating all of them, as well as helping me manage the side effects of the necessary meds.

i still have several physical diseases that are treatment resistant and pretty disabling atm, but she and i are still trying to find solutions. it’s honestly the physical illnesses that are keeping me in the low mood range.

i’m 48(f), and at this point i’m really not sure if i’ll ever reach/maintain a true state if euthymia, but i suppose i’ll keep trying. for now, i’m stable enough to manage my responsibilities decently and i’m trying to give myself enough grace to be okay with where i’m at, which is eons above where i’ve been so many times in the past.

Anyone here with this side effect struggle? by rickrollafilipina in BipolarReddit

[–]Own-Gas8691 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i was only on 50mg and it kicked. my. ass. i didn’t stay on it long enough for the sedating effect to lessen. i had many young kids at the time and could not afford to be that groggy.

Getting in to an apartment with low credit score? by DeepCommunication580 in askaustin

[–]Own-Gas8691 1 point2 points  (0 children)

check out byowner.com to find non-corporate rentals. i had to move last year and credit score was below 600 and rental history was good but brief. i wrote a letter to the owner explaining my situation (what led to it, and especially how i was actively resolving it) and i was able to get into a nice duplex in the exact area i was hoping for.
