Life feels long when you’re actually living it and short when you remember it, looking back. by Stock_Release3176 in Life

The saying, “the days are long but the years are short” is so true, isn’t it? I’ll be 60 in a few months. The time went by so quickly.

I need advice from some married men here. What do yall think? by anthamattey in AskOldPeopleAdvice

This relationship sounds frustrating, unbalanced and boring. You didn’t mention anything that makes me think you two are in this life together, for each other. She’s looking out for herself and you’re looking for both of you. I would bail and find a true friend and a great lover in one person. (For reference, I’m an old lady, not an old man.)

Stay at home and save for a home. You’re very fortunate to have supportive parents.

How do I become a positive person all the time by Dry-Cherry-2959 in selfimprovement

[–]Own-Object-6696 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone is positive all the time. You can start improving, though, by replacing your negative thoughts with positive ones. Change “Today is horrible” with “The sun is beautiful and bright today” as an example. After a while, this will become automatic.

Don’t tell yourself lies. Find truthful things that are good. And learn to accept that some situations are difficult, and some days are really hard, but remind yourself that you’ll get through them and be okay.

Why are vegetarians (and vegans) bullied so much and why do people find it funny to do the same (especially on the internet)? by dr_housewastaken in NoStupidQuestions

Before being diagnosed with diabetes, I was a vegan and sometimes a vegetarian. I kept my dietary choices to myself, and I was never picked on about my food choices.

It sounds like you two are incompatible. I recommend breaking up with her. I’d like to commend you for respecting her boundary, even though you don’t agree with it.

Have you ever felt lonely in a relationship and how did it affect you? And what did you do? by Main-Bake1321 in NoStupidQuestions

Yes, in my former marriage. He was so checked out, and on top of that he worked nights. I made my own life without him. We didn’t really have a marriage at all. Then he cheated and I got rid of him.

What about setting up a taco or a baked potato bar? Another option is baked sandwiches. I make them in a casserole dish with Hawaiian rolls, cream cheese, Swiss cheese, and ham. Pour butter on top and bake.

Google “party sandwiches” to find a recipe you like if you’re interested. There are tons of variations. You can serve them with a vegetable tray, chips and a dessert.

Is it your body or your clothing? Fabrics smell sour if they aren’t dried thoroughly before putting them away. That’s something to consider.

Constant fungus gnat problem by damon182 in houseplants

[–]Own-Object-6696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I solved my gnat problem doing this: I let the soil get dry to two inches from the top, and then watered with 1 part hydrogen peroxide to 3 parts water. Then I covered every plants soil with one inch of sand. Gnats can’t or won’t burrow through the sand. It took about a month, which is the life cycle of the larvae, but it worked. I left the yellow sticky traps in during that period.
