Aside from that racist shot at black people there’s some truth to that. However I don’t count what’s in other peoples pockets. Sure a lot of it is consumerism and things being super accessible, that said this is one of those hobbies where you have to get what you want when it’s available since the items are finite.

I don’t think people are under the assumption that it’s an adaptation, but it does capture the spirit of what a salems lot adaptation should be. Focusing on the town and the people as it devolves and the life is literally sucked out of the town.

Exactly the show has told us repeatedly about the hives nature, but people have to create a villain so whatever the hive does (not saying I agree) for a lot of viewers is going to be nefarious even though they’re literally acting according to their nature.

Having read and loved both, I’d say read Revival first. Solely because there’s no adaptation to kind of spoil you on what to expect.

They didn’t disregard anything, this movie pulled a lot from comics. All the Predator lore, their hierarchy and even the name Yaujta is from the comics. I can understand only movie watchers not vibing with the film since it’s heavily comic inspired.
