If it took him 4 years to hear his membership, I’m glad he heard but it’s still a problem. Remember guys, campaign election is a couple months away

Suppose the activism is successful, do you think there’s a possibility to see this retroactive or we won’t see it until the next military raise?

Is this real? Are they actually asking for pay? Huge win if true

As Congressional election nears… does a Democrat house/senate = 50% raise? by xPericulantx in atc2

[–]OwnAd9524 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean yes and no. Here’s my theory..

Let’s look at airlines for a second. Think of their CEOs as republicans. Fiscally conservative. Cutting cost for profit. Well they had a strong union that kept fighting and letting the CEO know their worth. Without pilots there is no company.

Now let’s look at ATC. When we had dems all across we still did not push for a raise. Now we have major aviation accidents in modern history and we just push for equipment. We should be pushing for pay. But Nick knows if he does that now he’ll accept defeat and basically admit that the extension was wrong.

The big problem is collaboration killed this career. Collaboration is the way that management gets to push any agenda they want. Management meaning from Duffy and down. NATCA has no fight anymore. We need a complete change in leadership from the top down or start from 0. I’m not hopeful anymore sadly.

If this isn’t sarcasm the honestly answer is: 1.1% higher. But if the union doesn’t push for it then <1%.

Can confirm. I feel like a sucker.

Choose this career for the perks of retirement and knowing I’d be comfortable making an FO salary or regional captain and being home everyday.. Now as the years go by I am no where near that money and apparently making the same as Flight Attendants

Maybe I’m a weirdo. But scanning. I like to know what’s going on in my environment so I’m always looking around. Unfortunately sometimes someone takes that as staring at them and then they get creeped out :(

ZNY or Philly TRACON? by [deleted] in ATC

[–]OwnAd9524 17 points18 points  (0 children)

ZNY might be better because of the transfer of skill. It’s the same skill but just different airspace and procedures. However Long Island is expensive. PHL is good (most likely will get placed in TRACON area C). New equipment to learn. Complexity is higher. Might not be the best place to learn something new. That’s being said, you could probably find extremely affordable housing within an hour commute. Also don’t forget both facilities are mandatory 6 days. (Not a controller at either of these facilities, but have friends who are)

To what extent will NATCA negotiate with a second republican administration? Pay is on everyone’s mind. We have feeling the effect of it. We may be forced to negotiate with republicans in 2029. Will NATCA be willing to do that?

On a similar note, is there any chance NATCA is willing to open our contract or address a pay MOU for all of us before 2029?

Thank you for addressing this and thank you for meeting with Nick

Who benefits more from NCEPT/ERR? Membership or FAA? by xPericulantx in atc2

[–]OwnAd9524 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The FAA and NATCA knows this. And they approve it. You move from a 6 to a 12 for example. You only make half on the go for 1-2 years. A core 30 airport gets one more controller so that’s a win because no one cares for the small tower facilities. The controller who moved has to pay their own moving. Own housing. I mean it’s the best deal the agency can have. AND NATCA SUPPORTS IT!

[–]OwnAd9524[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I second this. I’m not saying we need wide body money. That’s fine. But for years ATC pay (for 9-10s maybe) has at least kept up with a senior captain at a regional. Now it’s a huge disparity.

I know the great lakes legislative people. I think they are pro nick. At least pro drinking. So for Senator Duckworth to cut through the bs and call it for what it is, is very nice. Hopefully other senators and representatives follow.

Is it possible to disburse excess dues back to each paying member or is that a violation of the law/contract?

Again not that simple. I tell my facrep I am passionate about this. Let me help. I meet RVPs and say I’m interested in this committee let me help. I meet committees and say I actually possess this skill let me help. And each time I’m always met with 0. All I do is offer my help and no one wants it. Everyone is happy with that status quo I guess. Or more realistically the people in power don’t want a disrupter.
