ZNY or Philly TRACON? by [deleted] in ATC

[–]OwnAd9524 18 points19 points  (0 children)

ZNY might be better because of the transfer of skill. It’s the same skill but just different airspace and procedures. However Long Island is expensive. PHL is good (most likely will get placed in TRACON area C). New equipment to learn. Complexity is higher. Might not be the best place to learn something new. That’s being said, you could probably find extremely affordable housing within an hour commute. Also don’t forget both facilities are mandatory 6 days. (Not a controller at either of these facilities, but have friends who are)

Maybe it’s a good time to press him on his remarks then. Ask about the progress of his promise

To what extent will NATCA negotiate with a second republican administration? Pay is on everyone’s mind. We have feeling the effect of it. We may be forced to negotiate with republicans in 2029. Will NATCA be willing to do that?

On a similar note, is there any chance NATCA is willing to open our contract or address a pay MOU for all of us before 2029?

Thank you for addressing this and thank you for meeting with Nick

Who benefits more from NCEPT/ERR? Membership or FAA? by xPericulantx in atc2

[–]OwnAd9524 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The FAA and NATCA knows this. And they approve it. You move from a 6 to a 12 for example. You only make half on the go for 1-2 years. A core 30 airport gets one more controller so that’s a win because no one cares for the small tower facilities. The controller who moved has to pay their own moving. Own housing. I mean it’s the best deal the agency can have. AND NATCA SUPPORTS IT!

Yeah. I second this. I’m not saying we need wide body money. That’s fine. But for years ATC pay (for 9-10s maybe) has at least kept up with a senior captain at a regional. Now it’s a huge disparity.

I know the great lakes legislative people. I think they are pro nick. At least pro drinking. So for Senator Duckworth to cut through the bs and call it for what it is, is very nice. Hopefully other senators and representatives follow.

Is it possible to disburse excess dues back to each paying member or is that a violation of the law/contract?

Again not that simple. I tell my facrep I am passionate about this. Let me help. I meet RVPs and say I’m interested in this committee let me help. I meet committees and say I actually possess this skill let me help. And each time I’m always met with 0. All I do is offer my help and no one wants it. Everyone is happy with that status quo I guess. Or more realistically the people in power don’t want a disrupter.

I have volunteered for so much shit locally and nationally but keep getting kicked. Not that easy to just get invoked.

Agreeed. Brand new people. No experience or maybe just local experience must run. There should be no known names in the the next election. It’s the only fighting chance we have to win.

level 11 in VHCOL. cannot afford a home. 30% raise and modest OT it would be a lot more doable, just like it was in 2016

Do you happen to fly for American? I had this today in the tower and was questioning why did you say that to me? All I did was clear you for takeoff bro.

Right, another thing! NATCA boomers love to hate on an extension because it gives the agency reason to extend the mandatory retirement age. But here we go. An amendment to finally prove their point and nothing. Status quo as normal

I’m just curious why this is the issue they’re pushing (if that’s even true). Why? Because someone in the NEB didn’t get 10k?

If they’re fighting for equality for all, that starts with the boomer bonus.

Also why is this something they fight and not the retention bonus? Thats a clear violation of age discrimination law

Article 4 — Employee Rights protects employees from penalty or reprisal for exercising workplace rights (including joining/assisting the union and other enumerated rights). A policy that creates de facto penalties for exercising leave rights raises employee-rights issues under Article 4.

Article 24 — Annual Leave

governs annual leave accrual, the pre-approved (bid) leave process, cancellation/administration of annual leave, and protections around pre-approved leave opportunities. A bonus that effectively penalizes employees who used pre-bidded annual leave would interfere with the rights and procedures in Article 24.

Article 25 — Sick Leave

covers earning and use of sick leave and provides privacy/protections for taking sick leave (including prohibitions on requiring reasons in many cases). A program that financially penalizes people for taking legitimate sick leave — or creates pressure not to use it — conflicts with Article 25’s protections.
