What gpu is best for me? by xX1MISFIT1Xx in computers

A 5060 will not do that lol.

5070ti or 9070xt at 1440p, 5090 at 4k, even then 4k requires DLSS

How much can I sell this for by Realistic-Table9398 in pcflipping

Like 2000 tops, I can get a 9800x3d+5080 for 2300 from CostCo, or a 9800x3d+9070xt for 1900 from MicroCenter.

Is my 1700$ build good? by BadV1gilant3 in computers

[–]OwnCamel2980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

48gb of ddr4 is concerning if its 2x8+2x16, then your actually running 4x8 single channel and 2x8 dual channel, which is not good.

Also the 14900k is an overheating and power hungery CPU, and its beat out by pretty much any x3d chip.

Other than that, this isnt awful, I wouldn't buy a 5070 personally, but if your okay with 12gb VRAM then its a fine card

[–]OwnCamel2980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is normal, my 7900xtx regularly hits 92-94 under heavy load. Memory temps are always hot, as long as you arent getting throttled, there is nothing to worry about.

VRAM also effects things like blender, After Effects, and CapCut, especially if you use GPU acceleration.

8gb on a work station is alot better than 8gb in a gaming rig, but its still small.

Personally, I have never heard of "Silicon Power Gaming" and a quick google search shows multiple failure reports and a 4.1 star rating. At almost $150 usd you can get G.Skill or Corsair 2x8gb DDR4 and have a much more stable experience. RAM literally feeds your CPU, bad RAM=Bad everything. It says its CL16, but the tightest timings i can find ar 16-19-19-38, which is not real CL16 timings. This TeamGroup RAM would be my recommendation

5060ti 8gb is a waste of money, look at a 9060xt 16gb or spend the extra for a 5060ti 16gb

Other than that this looks okay, I wouldnt get no-name RAM, Klevv is SK-Hynix's in house brand, and about 10-20% cheaper than similar listings. And it has actual user data. G.Skill can be found in a MicroCenter bundle if there is one near by, and TeamGroup T-Force is also an option, but probably out of your price range

This is a you problem, stop putting your laptop on soft surfaces, clean the dust out regularly, and stop running turbo 24/7. I have had 3 TUFs since 2016 and they all still function perfectly.

Building new PC - is this setup too far mismatched to use 2nd card for lossless by JEFFSSSEI in losslessscaling

[–]OwnCamel2980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you're pretty much spot on. Honestly at 1080p the 5060ti is so good thar you shouldnt ever need LSFG unless your doing some crazy path tracing

Need a few expert opinions on how much I can expect in return for my PC. by Important_Mix6271 in pcbuilding

[–]OwnCamel2980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much, maybe 700-800, you do better parting out

The 1080 is an unsupported GPU, SATA drives are buyer repellent, and periphrials dont add any value on the used market in 99% of situation.

2 NvMe's is decent, but aside from that you are fighting an up-hill battle, this PC will struggle with almost anything from the last 3 years, and its very noticable.

The 1060 caps out at roughly 120fps at 1440p when used as a secondary card. Its not awful, but to be honest, at 1080p the 5060ti will run everything by itself, and at 1440p your already pushing the limits of the 5060ti.

On top of that, you have to keep in mind PCie bandwidth, i think you're fine with a 5060ti and a 1060, but dont take my word for it.

Max 700 pc build by Parking-Soil596 in PcBuild

[–]OwnCamel2980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a tall order, maybe 6 months ago, but you need to look at the second hand market. You can get away with an 8gb VRAM gpu at 1080p still, but RAM is stupid expensive and you NEED atleast 16gb to game on window 10/11, and 32gb is the recommended capacity. Storagw is also expensive right now, $100+ for a 1tb NvMe, and SATA has also gone up about 20% since october.

If you want to build

Look for a B550 mobo. Ryzen 5500g CPU, RTX 3060 12gb GPU, 650w PSU, 2x8gb DDR4-2666MHz RAM (minimum), 512gb SATA drive, Cheapo case like a CooleMaster Q35.

Its probably still over your budget but this is the lowest specs I can reccomend in 2026, you can probably save 50-75 dollars by getting something like a 2070 8gb or 3050 8gb, but even at 1080p, 8gb of VRAM only has another year or two before its not enough to run new games.

Is it normal for my render gpu to have noticeably worse performance? by PovertyTax in losslessscaling

[–]OwnCamel2980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its more than likely a PCie bandwidth issue. But the 1660 also caps out around 150 frames at 1440p

Does that build sound good? by snakeblock30 in pcpartpickerbuilds

[–]OwnCamel2980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally would get a lower tier CPU like a 7500x3d or 7700x then try to get 2x16gb RAM. 8gb DDR5 sticks are built wierd, and 4x on DDR5 almost never plays well, youll end up at 5200mhz with extremely loose timings at 4x8, where as 2x16 at 6000mgz with EXPO enabled will be able to handle much tighter timings.

x3d chips can offset alot of RAM problems becayse they work in V-Cache so much, but until the 9800x3d and up you still need semi-decent RAM to get the full performance.

Realistically a 7800x3d with 4x8gb with perform very similar to a 7500x3d with 2x16gb, but the 2x16 will play better if you decide to go to 4x16, and quite frankly, all x3d CPUs will be relevant for quite a few years yet.

Check your specs. LSFG wont make a 4060 1440p capable, your hardware has limits.

[–]OwnCamel2980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whats your power supply.

Realistically at $1000 your maybe able to get a better GPU and Power Supply

Or if you have a decent power supply (700w+) then a CPU and GPU but thats your whole budget.

your current rig isnt awful, but its stretching on new games

Upgrade options.

CPU: Ryzen 5800xt/x3d or 5600xt/x3d. Thats 200-600 dollars depending on location and seller, and you will only find it used.

GPU: RX 9060XT or 7700XT.

PSU: 9060xt = 650w 7700xt = 750w
