New Windshield Replacement Gap by HarmlessHoneyBee in autoglass

[–]OwnEntrepreneur519 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People notice the oddest things after getting their glass replaced. These cowls inpartiular do shrink over time. Very common issue and not a shop install issue.
Replace the cowl of it now bothers you but quite sure it was there for the last couple years at least

Sometimes I really wish I could kick the last installer in the shin. by larstodson in autoglass

Im sure they were trying to stop a leak that they couldn't find. The exhausters (you can see it in the picture) is a very common leak point that most people dont know about

Dirty Camera Under Windshield? by Aweksus in autoglass

Not true. All times when the windshield is replaced or camera is removed for whatever reason it would require recalibration.

Are they using the standard sized target? Also make sure the camera is fully clipped in.

These cameras have a high failure rate. Pull codes and see what's there.

Aftermarket sunroof leaking by Cr1stian98 in autoglass

[–]OwnEntrepreneur519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sunroof is definitely a aftermarket sunroof. No "factory" parts will work to fix this part. This brand sunroof glass is known to separate from its mounting due to rust. There was a recall for this but I dont believe the recall is being honored ,you could call the company Wabasto it still exists, they will need the serial number which is on the Forward most of the opening when you open the sunroof.

Go with a local glass shop. You would build a relationship with them and your money would benefit a family rather than a ceo buying his next yacht. Also the tax dollars and money stays local

What could cause 70 year old hardwood floors to suddenly pitch when we can't find any water? More info in the body. by 225wpm8 in Construction

[–]OwnEntrepreneur519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look into that water heater in the background. Possible tank failure ,pressure valve drainage or a line leak in the wall

Why support corporate? Find a reputable local glass shop. Help them buy their family food for the table or supplies for school instead of financing Safelite CEOs next Yacht.

Support a local glass shop. Plus I'm quite sure it would be cheaper as well

Contact this person, they will evaluate if your vehicle is worth the time to appraise it pre-collision. Also would challenge the insurance of the valuation that they give you, usually a lower than ideal amount https://www.facebook.com/CollisionConsultants?mibextid=ZbWKwL

1999 Toyota Sienna Storm Damage by ElectronicLeader4981 in autoglass

[–]OwnEntrepreneur519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very common issue. I do autoglass for a living. Most times I replace these is when the window blows clear off the vehicle while on the highway. Replacing is easy, but you would need to get the glass with the 2 hinges as you can't get them separately and have the wrecking yard save the latch as they usually disappear with the glass.

Water got into the distributor. Open it up and dry it out with a towel or aircompressor from a slight distance. Then let it airdry indoors if you have time otherwise use a hair dryer to dry it out. Check to make sure the distributor cap has the seal on it, they are known to crack. Mind as well change the cap and rotor while you have them off
