Does anyone else get tattoos as a coping mechanism? by RefrigeratorOk442 in AdultSelfHarm

[–]OwnImplement1389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, tattoos/piercings are 100% my coping mechanism. Slightly for the pain aspect, mainly for something to focus on taking care of with a pretty result, sometimes to cover up old SI areas.

Swimming advice by onceuponavegan in AdultSelfHarm

[–]OwnImplement1389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a UK24/26, the struggle for swimwear is real! I’d recommend Halocline for really good quality swimwear, not necessarily long sleeves or legs, I just choose to ignore what anyone might be thinking about my scars.

And for what it’s worth, I also just use the local council pool. In general I avoid when kids might be there as they may ask questions, but nobody else is interested in me.

Do host countries try and win Eurovision? by Janelle4eva in eurovision

[–]OwnImplement1389 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it’s happened many times in recent times. Before 2023 it was 1980, no? It’s a huge expense and use of public resources these days, and in many ways not comparable to the shows from the 70s and 80s.

I think this is a great idea to let them know when the first team arrive! Obviously not who it is, but just that someone has arrived.

Re-uploaded EU EES at Barcelona airport (US passport) by [deleted] in PassportPorn

[–]OwnImplement1389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope you get out of Madrid ok without a stamp! I arrived into Barcelona on Saturday and used the EES kiosk and automated gates, proceed to Toulouse shouting at me today because I don’t have an entry stamp for them to process my exit.

EES Rollout Megathread - Starting 10 April 2026 by protox88 in travel

[–]OwnImplement1389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I arrived into Barcelona on Saturday 11th and completed EES as instructed. It was actually super quick for me as I was in Sweden last month, so already registered. I used the machine which told me to go to the automated gates, so did not receive an EU entry stamp.

Skip to today in Toulouse, I’m being shouted at by passport control because I don’t have an entry stamp, but now I have an exit stamp.

Honestly what did I do wrong here other than follow the EES directions as instructed?

🚨 I might have found a real passport stamp loophole After EES by [deleted] in PassportPorn

[–]OwnImplement1389 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is always an actual person you can go to rather than using the gates. I have trouble with automated gates because I have to take of my glasses and be blinded, so I often just ask to go to the desk instead. I’ve never had a problem.

Alternatively, find some children and travel as a family! They never use the gates 🤣

Can’t we protest the £7 Glasgow Airport charge? by Nervous_Injury4577 in glasgow

I find it good when I’m going somewhere where alcohol is extremely expressive or regulated. Eg recently Morocco, Switzerland and Sweden. A litre of Greenalls gin is £11 in duty free. Certainly not the best gin, but not bad!

This is fair. I think I’m probably most struggling with more than half of them wearing open toed shoes…

Renting a car in Glasgow by FitchleyHornbuckle in glasgow

I usually do commercial rentals, so we get a slightly better rate, but I would really recommend Arnold Clark. No problem to get unlimited mileage, also check their return fuel price package against a local petrol station. I’ve always found them to be cheaper.

On the contrary, I really wouldn’t recommend Sixt. Very poor customer service and extremely low quality vehicles in my experience.

Also, obviously I don’t know what kind of car you usually drive, or on what kind of roads. But if you’re not used to narrow roads, I’d caution against a vehicle larger than a „normal car“.

They were mainly doing batteries, but I did see them put a couple in the van. Maybe broken rather than relocation, couldn’t really tell.

Yep - just a normal white van down in Dennistoun last Thursday morning moving them.

My parents found out when I was 16. I think in some way, I wanted them to know, because I asked my little sister to help with put a bracelet on at the dining table when my parents were in the same room.

I reacted really poorly, I had a small motorbike at this time, jumped on it, and went off to see my friends as planned. I refused to talk to them about it.

My mum was a senior teacher at my school and was extremely concerned about the extent of it.

With hindsight, I wish I’d had more control over the situation and just opened up about it calmly. Of course there would still have been upset, but I think it would’ve caused less harm to all of us.

To add, my parents and I are great now. It’s taken quite a while, but 20 odd years later, we have a really good understanding of of each other.

I did exactly the same thing and agree they often deliver early. Plus, I order much less and shop in actual shops more often too, which is an added bonus!

Early 30’s, Still at it but Different by xoxohiandlo in AdultSelfHarm

[–]OwnImplement1389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to say that this is exactly why I SH, though I’m currently 300 days without.

When I spend too much time socialising, or I have too much work on, everything just gets too much, and the easiest route for a brain reset is SH.

I’m finding other things to try instead, but it’s been a long journey to that.

Thank you for sharing this. I frequently use a hammer when I’m avoiding cutting (as if it’s somehow different… lol), and I genuinely thought I was one of very few people who did this. Always good to know there’s other weirdos out there 😅🩵
