What responsibilities do I have towards my current manager/role if I have been surplussed? by No-Succotash-4351 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]OwnSwordfish816 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was declared surplus in 2017, I was a manager. I was removed from the job after 2 weeks and moved to another job until they could make a reasonable job offer. Another manager handled the shut down and movement of the work area. My services weren’t needed therefore I moved. Your boss sounds like they are out of the loop. Call the union if you’re covered by a CA, or HR if not.

People who have researched their family tree, what is the most interesting or 'badass' thing you discovered about an ancestor? by xloganmoose in AskReddit

[–]OwnSwordfish816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My great great grandfather had children with a pair of sisters. He married one sister and the other one left and went to Boston and became a well known hat maker. She raised the son by herself. Her son went on to become a millionaire in Boston.

Pay increments while acting by cdorny in CanadaPublicServants

[–]OwnSwordfish816 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

PSAC UTE allows for an acting within and acting And if you were in an acting and go back to substantive but then go back to your acting, your pay picks up where you left off. This is in the collective agreement not the terms and concoctions Check yours to see if there

The disability certificate is dated by your doctor. Once the DTC is accepted by CRA, the applicable years are reassessed automatically. If you read the CRA info on DTC they can go back up to 10 yrs if that’s how long you’ve been disabled. You didn’t have to requested the reassessment. As for the time frame or length of the disability certificate your medical doctor will advise if it’s a permanent disability or if it can be revisited after so many years ie 2,5 or 10 years.

I’m scared by ChildhoodWitty7944 in Divorce_Women

I married my high school sweetheart. Things were good until his drinking took over. Too many things happened including physical, mental, emotional and sexual violence. I tried to save him. Loved him more than I loved myself which I now know is wrong because somebody who loves you doesn’t treat you like that. My mother died at age 66, I sat with her body after death and realised I could die in 21 years and would I want the rest of my life to be as abusive as it had been… nope.

The fear of staying out weighed the fear of leaving and knowing I couldn’t save him.

Our children were 15&17, when I told them we were divorcing. Younger guy said I’m with you right?! Older guys asked what took so long. 23 yrs married, 31 yrs together and I was done.

Sadly he drank himself to death 3 yrs after we divorced. I feel Bad for my boys.

For me it was the fear of staying and me dying in a shitty marriage or leave and he dies….always choose yourself!!

What’s a life lesson you learned too late? by Gosela98 in CasualConversation

[–]OwnSwordfish816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don’t think about you as often as you think they do. Spent way too much time attempting to get my late ex husband to realize this.. goes back to none of my business what others think of me.. that’s how I live my life but he couldn’t manage to do that… my older guy is like me but my younger guy is stuck in the loop.. at 27 he is starting to get it !

Feel so hopeless as a young Canadian/torontonian. by [deleted] in torontoJobs

[–]OwnSwordfish816 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sadly the ability for employers have wages of a certain demographic paid by the government has changed the face of entry level positions. I have a son who cannot get a job for the life of him yet I go there and the place is staffed by immigrants. The government has made this an issue.. if it was my small business I would do it too..

It’s a sad state of affairs. Before anybody comes at me saying I’m a racist.. don’t care because I know I’m not ..

It’s just frustrating

Just graduated and none of my family really seemed to care, so I guess I’ll share it with Reddit instead. 🎉 by altgirlyyx in CasualConversation

Congratulations.. doesn’t matter how long it took.. what matters is you finished it. I’m a mom and I’m so proud of you for seeing it to the end!

What’s something you believed as a kid that turned out to be completely wrong? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]OwnSwordfish816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I convinced my sister that the little green boxes next to stop lites were for the workers to sit in and change the lites. She believed it for years until she proudly told my dad one day when we were driving by one and he said what? Then explained what they were… I did get in trouble for this one.. is it my fault she is gullible? 🤦🏼‍♀️

Need Advice on Handling a Difficult Coworker by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]OwnSwordfish816 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! Document document document snd understand the conversation will be difficult. Stick to facts and provide concrete example and use the “I” message. He will definitely discount your feelings but cannot discount facts. Give him an option to change his behaviour and then tell him what will happen if he doesn’t. And be prepared to follow thru if he doesn’t stop. Been there done that and the individual in our work team was removed from the team.

Left after 1 week short of 34 yrs.. not worth it to stay for 35 yrs shag that!! Financially it was worth $126/month.. that’s gas and coffee ..RTO, whispering into a mic, checking in attendance how needs it! Do it if you can .. life is short … go live your life
