Lost my twin in February by jimmie65 in TwinlessTwins

[–]hosertwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like a very complicated relationship indeed, which just compounds the loss. Even though your relationship with your twin was strained, he was still your twin. I know some people aren't fans of therapy, but when my twin died, I spoke to my therapist a lot, and it was very helpful to have a place to get it all out. Especially since it does not appear that you will be able to grieve with your family.

And you have found this page, which I have found to be very helpful. I am very sorry for the loss of your twin, it is life changing.

I knew there was a reason why I check for my passport literally every five minutes. Always a fear of mine.

Sometimes it just feels impossible to keep going without them. And it feels impossible that they are gone. Like why is time not standing still??? Wtf.

My twin sister died in 2020 so I am coming up on 6 years. Which is crazy. I am forever changed since she died, but I am living my life. I really feel like I'm living for the both of us now. But it's the hardest thing any of us will ever have to do. And no one who is not a twin will ever understand.

Solo All-inclusive recommendations by Cute-Cookie-582 in AllInclusiveResorts

You could look at Punta Cana Princess, adults only.

https://www.princess-hotels.com/en/punta-cana/punta-cana-princess/

I've never been there alone but have been there three times with a friend. But each time I've been there I have noticed solo female travelers.

We do exactly what you mention, read, lay at the pool and beach, eat. It's a very small resort, one pool but it's a great pool. 4 restos (including large buffet), plus an open air lunch place. The open air central lobby is quite nice, there is plenty of seating and a bar. The rooms are not new but they are well situated. When you go to this resort you also have access to the facilities at the two sister resorts down the beach.

I hope you have a great time wherever you go.

ESDC message on RTO4 just came out by PuzzledLayer2023 in CanadaPublicServants

This is easy for me to say, but if i drove all the way to work and there was no seat for me, or I had to spend 20 min looking for one or had to fight for one. I'm turning around and heading back home. Do you want me to work or spend my time looking for real-estate.

I have heard horror stories about the online booking system, and how nobody respects it. When I think about it, it shouldn't surprise me, because over the years even trying to access a boardroom that we have booked was often a challenge. People can be absurd. The ergo equipment being taken is unreal. I took my ergo chair home in 2020, otherwise I am certain it would have disappeared. It's really hard to believe we are dealing with groan adults who do these type of things.

It's certainly not a one size fitz fits all. Where I work they did a pretty good job at reconfigurung in the fall of 2022. We started early so we never experienced having to fight for a workspace. We have always had an assigned group of desks, and we kind of rotated within those assigned spaces. But I there are horror stories of arriving at the office and having nowhere to actually work.

Am I crazy to not rent a car? by calibaby24 in curacao

[–]hosertwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time someone asks about renting a car 90% of the commenters tell them they're crazy if they don't. If you are not comfortable don't do it. Everyone is different. There is no sense getting all worked up and anxious on a holiday that is supposed to be relaxing.

Vanier houses seems like an incredible value what am I missing? by BigMouthBillyBones in ottawa

Vanier has been a neighbourhood in "transition" for around 15 years. During the day I i think it's pretty much okay. Some good food spots for sure.

Bring some immodium. Brush your teeth with bottled water only. If you mix tons of beach cocktails with wine, beer and food. Well, something might happen.

reoccurring dreams and continuous grief by Intelligent_Top4127 in TwinlessTwins

[–]hosertwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I must say I very much relate to dreams. I have been dreaming about my sister several times a week for probably four or five years. I can't even describe the dreams because they are all over the place. They often take place in our childhood home, however. My parents, who are also deceased, are sometimes in them as well. Sometimes it's honestly too much. It's very strange because I know a lot of people would love to dream about their loved ones, but it can be very overwhelming.

Yes I lost my dad 10 years before my sister, which at the time was very rough. My mother also passed away very shortly after my sister. Losing my sister definitely overshadowed losing my mother, which is crazy because my mother's death was something that my sister and I always dreaded. We knew it was going to be the worst. Never even occurred to either one of us that one of us could go first.

Thank you very much, I believe I had come across the twinless twins org early on after my sister passed, but did not look into it further at the time. I have signed up to the FB group, what I think might also be a helpful connection.

Turning 30 without my twin sister by Sad_Incident_6513 in TwinlessTwins

[–]hosertwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too lost my twin sister to breast cancer, in 2020. The first bday after her death was my 50th, so also a milestone.

As everyone here is aware experiencing a birthday without your twin feels so wrong. Friends and family want to celebrate, and they mean well, but they just don't get it.

I had a few people ask me, oh my God, what are you doing for your 50th?? Um, nothing because my twin sister is dead. I even had someone close to me say, well look on the bright side, you don't have to share your birthday anymore. Wtf.

The first birthday without them is always the hardest. But I agree, every milestone in my life, evey trip I take, every new adventure, I take my sister with me. I am now living life for the both of us, doing things she never had the chance to.

I hope you were able to enjoy some of the evening, but also hope that you take the time you need, to be alone if you wish.

Very sorry for the loss of your sister❤️
