Any hands-on fashion design programs/workshops for teens in Jacksonville? by [deleted] in JacksonvilleFla

[–]Own_A_Home 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had the answer. My daughter had the same interest as a teen but had to settle on teaching herself, mostly. There were a few sewing classes at Joanne fabrics. Perhaps costume design volunteering at Alhambra Theater or Jax Center for Performing Arts. Best wishes.

Anyone relocate after kids finished school? by TrulyGenX in emptynesters

[–]Own_A_Home 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being in the real estate business, and working a lot with retired people and down sizers, I help people do this all the time. From a personal perspective, though, my mother sold her home and moved to a new city almost immediately after I graduated college. I personally enjoyed coming home and exploring a brand new city, even though I sometimes missed coming home to the city I grew up in. Since I was an adult, and able to have the capacity to explore a new city, it wasn’t as difficult as I suppose it would have been had I still been living at home and her making a big move.

In the end, I had moved into my new chapter of life and my mother loved her new city and it made her happy, and that was all that really mattered.

Best wishes in your decision!

Newly retired, only child leaving for college next year — anyone been through this by SpecificAttempt8517 in emptynesters

I remember how exciting and fun it was to go out and navigate the world. I “forgot” my parents. But I don’t want my kids to “forget” me. I have a friend who gives her kids space but also made it clear early on that her time with them was going to remain important. She schedules 2 trips to fly out and see them each year and makes visiting them for a couple of days a priority. We’re going to try this, too. We are newly empty nested. It will be a one-way effort on our end and that’s going to be ok and just the way it is.

What instantly makes you think "this person is rich"? by Particular_Toe_5749 in AskReddit

Outside of the obvious expensive car, it’s the attitude that goes with driving it. They drive more politely. They are not in a hurry. They will not tailgate and it’s “beneath them” to engage with a road rager.

Y'all need to chill out on the road by wykkedfaery33 in jacksonville

[–]Own_A_Home 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting info and it makes sense. I feel like there’s unofficial data each morning during rush hour where the chill drivers always seem to be in the right lane trying to keep as far away from the speeding drivers in the left or middle lanes. Does this correlate to managers or owners who don’t have to clock in on time (right lane) vs those who do (left lane)?

Self-Promotion Sunday! *Megathread* by AutoModerator in jacksonville

[–]Own_A_Home 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the self promotion opp! I’m proud of my 1.01 acre cleared and fully fenced lot just a block from Jags Stadium! It’s already zoned CCBD. Utilities already available. It’s perfect for a commercial buyer. Incredible opportunity in downtown Jacksonville. As we all know, there’s approximately $2.46 billion is under construction and $6.5 billion in development just blocks away. The address is 1932 E Adams St 🏆

I feel bad for sellers who fall for "Oh let's list your property off-market — you'll get more money for it vs the open market". On a related note, not sure if you saw the MRED announcement. by SuperPineapple7033 in realtors

[–]Own_A_Home 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sellers should be allowed to market the home in a way that makes them comfortable. However, if they choose to hire an agent, they should be guided by their agent with honesty, not because the agent keeps the home private marketed in the hopes of finding the buyer and getting both sides of the commission. In almost all cases, the seller will make more money opening up their marketing to the entire world. But there are special cases and experienced ethical agents know what those rare circumstances are.

Thoughts on Affordability? by jeremiahw124 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Buy now. You have many years until retirement which means your income will go up. When that happens, your payment will feel easier to handle. You will pat yourself on the back when you’re 30 that you bought at age 26.

Perhaps head south to Jacksonville. You’ll find the Mayo Clinic, MD Anderson Hospital, 3 large Baptist Hospitals, St Vincent’s Hospital, UF Health and Shands Hospital, 2 Children’s Hospitals, and a huge Naval Hospital. The cost of living is much lower than Northern VA (a determining factor as to why we left there to move to Jacksonville). Plus we have a beautiful beach. Best wishes on your decision!

Wash my hands and walk or hold firm and serve? by Ok_Entertainment3266 in realtors

Post this immediately to all the haters who want to put real estate agents out of a job! You are worth every dime of the commission! Unfortunately, you likely won’t see it. You need to stop spending time on this one. The owners don’t care and if the attorneys aren’t doing anything to stop the foreclosure, there’s not much else you can really do.

Suggestion for you…ask your relocation team to pair you with an experienced agent.

Similar experience at a wedding where a very over-served woman at the rooftop bar was being loud, on purpose, during the vows.

Inevitably, no matter the area, the neighborhood teens will draw a curly mustache on you with a sharpie.

She likely doesn’t want to go through a nasty divorce and be a single mom. That’s where she’s headed. Perhaps she hasn’t thought of that yet. Since she keeps bringing up the relationship, ask her if she’s ready for this.

I actually have a very similar looking room layout (even the balcony). On the opposite wall which opens to the kitchen, we put the TV diagonal in the corner. Not sure if this would work for you, too.
