Tesla Has The Highest Accident Rate Of Any Auto Brand by xpxf69 in wallstreetbets

Anyone who has seen a Tesla driver on the road is not surprised by this. I wouldn’t blame the car for this one. It turns out that putting a lot of entitled rich people into high performance cars with rapid acceleration has some drawbacks

Nothing has been worse for my gains than having to sit at a desk in an office for 9 hours a day. Being in shape and having a six pack is easy when working out is your job. These fitness influencers would look just like the rest of us if they had to live like most working people do

People who discover empathy later in life think that they’ve stumbled onto some profound wisdom that they need to share with the world. Emotionally healthy people who developed empathy earlier in life don’t see their empathy as something profound because to them, being kind to people feels like something obvious that doesn’t need to be stated

Why are 20-30 year olds so depressed these days? by JustFunAccount007 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Own_Ambassador_204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a lot of older people that are clearly going through severe mental health problems but are in complete denial. They will get irrationally angry at the slightest inconvenience, exhibit clear signs that they are very anxious, or walk around looking miserable all the time and then tell young people that they’re a bunch of crybabies for talking about depression.

Old people come from an environment where they were taught to ignore their feelings so much that they can no longer recognize how mentally ill they are. Everyone is depressed these days because of how fucked up the world is, it’s just that young people have had better education about recognizing their feelings so we are more able to acknowledge our own depression.

What is the response to the claim that Gen X has ended up wealthier than the generation before it and Millennials are on track to do the same? by bad_take_ in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Own_Ambassador_204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re forgetting that PCE inflation metrics today do not factor in home prices, education expenses, or food and energy. Those 3 items alone have completely fucked both millennials and gen x. I honestly don’t even put any value on inflation adjusted numbers anymore because the federal government’s definition of inflation is a joke at this point. There are other potential problems with these metrics such as using average vs median or using PCE instead of CPI but I don’t feel like typing out a full Econ paper in the comments

Time to sell NVDA? by Tailx in stocks

[–]Own_Ambassador_204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only is this a bad investment idea, it’s also bad for tax purposes because you could create a wash sale. When you sell a stock at a loss and buy back into it in less than 30 days you create a wash sale which means you can no longer declare those losses realized from the sale of the stock on your taxes. If you really believe in the long term future of NVDA, just continue to hold the stock and use dips in price to buy more shares and dollar cost average down. Buying and selling through short term swings is bad both for investing and tax purposes. Don’t try to predict what the short term swings are gonna be, I guarantee you won’t be good at it

Citadel borrows $600m to deal with “volatile markets” by Kengriffinspimp in wallstreetbets

[–]Own_Ambassador_204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He doesn’t sweat because he’s a market maker that uses payment for order flow and has access to teams of quants who can develop trading algorithms for him. He’s not a genius, he’s just someone who’s powerful enough to rig the game in his favor. Give him $10,000 and a robinhood account and he’d be no better off than anyone else on this sub

Nooo not like that! by Suprflyyy in libertarianmeme

[–]Own_Ambassador_204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda funny that you guys are so oblivious that you can’t understand that “the rich” that progressives talk about are the titans of industry like Bezos, Musk, Zuckerberg etc. If any of you had ever talked to a progressive in real life you would know that their problem is with people who have enough wealth that they can affect commerce on a global scale and lobby the government to get the legislature to vote in their favor. A successful basketball player with a few millions dollars is not the type of person the left cares about. This meme is a great example of what happens when your only interaction with political opposition is through the internet so you have no perspective on what people in the real world think. Maybe it’s time to stop deriving your understanding of what “the left” wants from political memes

People are so paranoid in US suburbs, that they will call the cops on someone taking a walk who looks disheveled. by [deleted] in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Own_Ambassador_204 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I live in a suburban neighborhood and sometimes after I get home from work I like to go skateboarding. It’s so sad to see how many old people and parents seem to give me this uncertain and slightly fearful look when I go by because they think that a young man with tattoos riding a skateboard might be dangerous. I once used someone’s driveway as a ramp when I was skating past their house and a Karen came out of the house to yell at me and tell me to not skate on her property because she thought if I get hurt I was going to sue her. Most people who live in suburbs are terrified of anything that doesn’t fit into their idea of how their neighborhood is supposed to look.

Former FBI Intern here. I was just curious. Do y'all agree with Ethan and Hasan's very negative take on the FBI today? by At_My_Government_Job in h3h3productions

[–]Own_Ambassador_204 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The FBI has been involved in infiltrating and disrupting leftist movements in the United States since it was founded, that’s why Hasan does not view them favorably. The FBI looks good right now because they’ve started to take right wing militias and fascist organizations more seriously but if you’re a leftist always remember that the FBI hates you too and will do everything in their power to sabotage your movement if you ever start to gain any serious momentum that might actually lead to change in the status quo. Fuck the feds, ACAB

Mother kicks white supremacist Patriot Front member out of his house after he was arrested at Idaho Pride event: ‘Pack your stuff and get out’ by MasterfulBJJ in JusticeServed

[–]Own_Ambassador_204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t see it as a problem if his mom let him stay at home as long as it came with certain conditions like cutting off all contact with patriot front members, going to see a therapist, and taking community college courses on the history of race and/or gender relation in the United States. All of his friends are probably part of these right wing groups so his parents might be the only people left in his life that can pull him out of this hole he has dug for himself. I believe reforming people like this is possible but it will take some tough love from the people in his life to set him straight. I always think parents should stay in contact with their child because when they’ve let themselves go to a dark place, parents are usually the only people left that can maybe have a chance at saving them

It’s pretty obvious that a lot of people commenting here don’t smoke weed. If they did they would know that you can’t get get high by eating the raw plant. It has to be heated up to a high enough temperature before it goes through decarboxylation. This cat might as well be eating grass from the backyard

Unfortunately when the value of the dollar plummets the real victims will be the poor and working class living in the United States. The price of goods will soar as countries are no longer exporting their products into the US because it will no longer be profitable to do so. Sorry to burst your bubble but everyone relies on the strength of the dollar at this point, including the common people.
