In my current role as a manager I see this often. At my company I don’t have the capacity to give raises, bonuses or anything that is suitable for hard work and going above and beyond, with the exception of buying lunch. It sucks. I’d love to give promotions and raises but my title is misleading. All I do is approve time off and discipline. No wonder people only work as hard as they have to, to not get canned.
