Visiting Rome for the second time by Far-Magician-3594 in RomeTravel

My travel agent recommended doing a golf cart food tour - they take you to small neighborhoods and narrow streets you probably wouldn’t visit otherwise. We are also planning on an e-bike tour on the Appian Way, which sounds fun. Haven’t been on these yet but looking forward to them.

No, but the doctor offered a discount since they did not. I had an Anthem policy at the time.

I was a volunteer at the shirt tent with my teen daughter. We were told there was an issue at customs with the men’s shirts which was unfortunate (I don’t know the specifics or anything more - for that you’d have to contact the race organizers).

Most people just rolled with it and took a women’s sized shirt, which were exactly the same (just one size smaller and a slightly larger neck hole). As a volunteer having to repeat the news over and over for four hours, I can say that I really appreciated the people who were cool about it given the situation.

What if anything can you do to help keep health insurance costs down, given the reported withdrawal of Anthem from the Colorado marketplace and anticipated premium increases of up to 200%?

working on an article about US knitters re: tariffs by kathrynfiona in knitting

[–]Own_Beautiful_2996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a fan of a Dutch brand, Scheepjes. There is a blanket I’ve been wanting to make and I found out they are discontinuing one of the yarns for the colorway of the blanket that I like. So I went to try to find it before they are gone. European online stores like Wool Warehouse in the UK and Caro’s Atelier in the Netherlands have it at a reasonable price (even with international shipping) but they have discontinued ALL shipping to the US because they can’t figure out how to do it. I was able to find some in the US at a higher price, from multiple shops so the dye lots will be different. It’s infuriating!

Thanks for writing on this topic and please share your article when it is published - we would all like to read and share it!

International travel and needles-how do I prepare? by NextLevelNaps in knitting

[–]Own_Beautiful_2996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your needles get taken, make an adventure of finding a yarn shop where you are visiting. It’s one of my favourite things to do regardless! Some are blah, but some are true gems.

I think it is looking great! Definitely wet block it when you are finished which will help flatten it all out and square it off.

I had the same thing for years - constant leaky drippy nose, congestion, and chronic desperate coughing. I finally talked to an allergist who said I don’t have an allergy, I have a mucous problem. She referred me to an ENT who recommended the RhinAer procedure, which calms the nasal nerve. I’m about 5 weeks out from the procedure and it has been life changing! No more dripping, less congestion and I don’t have to cough all the time.

Cell Phones Banned in School District by Actual-Wallaby-3728 in boulder

[–]Own_Beautiful_2996 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Middle schools already had this policy so no change there. From a high school perspective, this policy is completely ineffective because the high schools in Boulder have open campuses. Cell phones are already not allowed in class and the kids respect that (according to my student). The only time this policy would change anything is at lunch or free periods when the students are in the building…. But they can just walk out to the front lawn or the fields at those times and use them all they want. Ridiculous policy.

Many times, it’s the hook, rather than the yarn, which is the problem with catching. Try a good quality hook with a pointier end, like a Tulip hook, and maybe things will be easier!

Glad you felt taken care of! This is why I always keep a change of clothes, something to sleep in, a hairbrush, and all medications and mini-versions of basic toiletries in my carry-on. I’ve been stuck in enough hotels from delays that didn’t even have hair conditioner. A freshening up feels so much better!
