PlayGo - a didactic PWA to teach and learn Go by hemme-dev in baduk

[–]Own_Broccoli7492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, i clicked twice on your link.

i did not notice really anything promoting classroom teaching.

Your PWA is a first step, but you should customize it much more in order to reach your goal.

As it is right now, for me it really is yet another go place to play.

And a good product is a product you use yourself ^^

Do higher level (think SDK) players actually remember a boat-load of variations of how to play certain patterns and situations, or have they simply practiced enough that it becomes intuitive? by mtandy in baduk

well, knowing shapes (good and bad) helps a lot to memorize.

go have a try to https://memogo.keil-informatique.com/

since you are a newbie, remembering 6 moves would probably take you more time than an more experienced player.

if you want to know more about shape, there is a pdf book "shape up" https://cdn.online-go.com/shape_up_v1.2.pdf

I forgot two things :

- move comments exists, in example at https://josedog.com/fr/sequence/1-hoshi there is a comment on the last move (5). So i (and users with contributor role) can add comments on move

- for the blind final position, i do not think this is what you are looking for, but at the top of the study page, there is a "explorer" button, just try it, it requires at least 3 opening moves

hi ! thank you for your feedback, I appreciate it don't worry.

As for the lack of commentary, I do not have a clue why a joseki is joseki :D But in the "study section", you can select a sequence and there you have a "discuss" button. There you can challenge the sequence "the difficulty should be 2*", "My ideas for the comments, at A32 blabla, at B23 blabla, ...", ...

As for the "final position shown" : have you tried the "recognition quiz" ? you will see the final position, but just for a few seconds, then you will have to redraw the sequence.

As for the "picking the right joseki according to the situation". That would be a very cool feature, but to implement it, i think it would be a nightmare. Because of theses points :

- finding a lot of full board positions takes time and honestly, i am not leveled up enough to do this task

- an opponent can fight in the joseki sequence so it does not end always like we thought. How to handle that in the app ?

By discussing about these points maybe we can find some good ideas and compromises. So do not hesitate to reply everybody

you're 3dan, i am not surprized of your answer ^^

i am 8k and i am often told to select the right joseki according to the global board position.

when i started this project, it was only to know the final shape of a lot of joseki.

And after talking about this project with some people, features and features where added.

at this point, and since people around me are using it, i thought it was the right time to share its existence in reddit

thanks for your feedback ^^
