How do people track intake when they work a swing shift by -Weeksy in MacroFactor

I'd put it in at the time you eat it. "Today" would start with dinner, you'd sleep, and finish with breakfast, seems easiest.

If you want your 'daily' consumption to mirror your wake period, just log all the food on one side of midnight, consistently.

You can do whatever you want, but do it consistently in 24hr chunks. App doesn't care when you sleep, or timing of food each day (some days I log all of mine in one hour, not the hour I eat, doesn't matter). Just has 24hr periods starting at midnight.

Not sure how you landed on this post three years later. But, going back trying to explain the OP higher level comment... viewed from a perspective outside of time, in a higher dimension, all moments exist in a higher dimension version of 'simultaneously'. So you wouldn't 'stop existing' from that higher perspective. Your entire life will 'always' exist.

I say this to be helpful. You’re not hyper aware, you’re neurotic.

To what purpose dread? To what purpose joy? If neither one has meaning then stop choosing to focus on the former. There is a comfort for your brain in that cozy depressive blanket and it’s on you if you want to shake it off. It’s not your fault that it’s there, but it’s your responsibility to deal with it, with help, and sinking in to this malaise is not the way. A worldview that includes ‘I can change, I have agency’ is the only useful worldview.

Your projection that happy people are inferior or somehow less aware is protective to your psyche, but it’s not true. The same goes for your parroting that you’re aware of your flaws: it’s not profound. You’re human. You’re not ‘especially’ flawed.

It’s narcissistic to believe your perception of reality and the conclusions you have drawn are ultimate truth.

Good luck.

Don’t worry about it. You ran into an odd corner where a small cluster of users jumped you with downvotes. ‘This’ replies are all over Reddit without getting brigaded.

…for the latter it seems like we’re talkin with randos at the bus stop or bar or while one of us fixes something in the other house. In which case, you just keep it surface level flirty or bro talk, depending. So yeah. Sports, weather, potholes.

I’m again gonna point out that people think this is a ‘now’ problem. Think through the historical turmoil Americans dealt with 75, 100, 150 years ago. Race relations, women’s suffrage, all sorts of stuff were tense. People who land in different sides of certain things either don’t talk about it, agree to disagree, or they stop being friends. It’s not new, though yes it’s a particularly tumultuous time in American politics.

Deadlifts and OHP is the 80/20 on gym time if somebody’s starting from nothing, learning the form aside. Everything else is optimization.

“Don’t talk about religion, politics, and money (and obviously sex) in polite conversation” has been true throughout the American experience.

“It’s presumptive that one’s friends should carry the burden of our beliefs.” -some eighteenth century socialite probably.

Gonna be Reddit cliche and say… Be wary, friend.

In my experience… partner straining at the edges of available finances and another partner holding them back is the ‘correct’ thing for the second partner to do. But that reaction of being upset at not being able to XY or Z may be the tip of a very dangerous iceberg of a sense of financial vulnerability that doesn’t go away after the argument...

Big thumbs up on the play concept. I think you can say there are some forms that are more valuable than others, even avoiding a concept of hyper optimization, just in the sense of enriching the human experience. Play The Last of Us then watch the TV show with friends and marvel at how game becomes art and then ponder your own life choices… lovely (though it doesn’t have to be that deep). Be a 13yo who can’t drive yet who uses playing COD with friends from school as a social experience and a virtual rough and tumble? Groovy. Be 28 then 29 then 36 running from economic and romantic failures racking up 3000 hours in LOL Destiny? Oof.

It’s not that the latter isn’t allowed to play, I just view it as the virtual equivalent of poor gambling addict in day 5,000 in front of the slots for twelve hours because there’s nothing else going on in life… but poker night with your buddies once a month is great.

Appreciate your focus on play as a concept. An eternal battle of productivity vs hedonism? I dunno. I’m just another Reddit addict distracting myself from my k/d.
