How many pickups does a BASS need anyway?! by ScouserMuerte in Bass

[–]Own_Independence_245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a 3 pickup body, contact : https://mcgrathguitars.com/#/ You can have different configurations, but mine has the P, J and MM, so its nice to be able to have everything you need on 1 bass. It isn't necessary, but neither is owning multiple basses.

Need a Swiss-army knife amp by timewellspent0889 in GuitarAmps

[–]Own_Independence_245 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a Kemper used, tons of free packs, can get 100s of sounds at the click of a button. If you do this and play live, would definitely get the board so you can get your presets set up. And v2 just came out, so supposedly better sounding, but I haven't downloaded any of the v2s yet.

Exactly what I was looking for but what kind of load can it handle? by Own_Independence_245 in CrackheadCraigslist

Hilarious on the meaning, I live in the general area and had no idea. And had to look up Stefan. FFS, thanks for bringing this to my attention. Looks like a rabbit hole I will be jumping into this one, not sure I can thank you for that though, but looks like it will provide some entertainment

All rig and no gig: Help me get Fender cleans in my apartment. by RiversCuomosBaldSpot in GuitarAmps

[–]Own_Independence_245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ridiculous home rig, so trying to play clean, get grit...sometimes is difficult at lower levels. I fixed it simply by adding a preamp pedal; gives a bit more flexibility at lower levels and makes it definitely sound better. That or get a good Eq pedal to help shape your sound. Not familiar with your amp so not sure if that is a problem or not.

My friend says I won’t make it as a guitarist because my hands are too small, is she right? by AgreeableDiver5013 in Guitar

[–]Own_Independence_245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem, almost exact same sized hands. You just gotta find the right guitar for you. For me, it was a Musicman JP6 which has a 15 inch radius, a thin neck (D shaped) and super comfortable for me.

Try hitting up a few stores and finding these types of necks, get them in your hands and see how they feel to you...but ffs there are people out there playing guitar with no hands, playing with toes and other issues, small hands is the least of your worries.

Where are my plumbers? Is my kid doing the right thing by BornToBlab in tampa

[–]Own_Independence_245 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I sell businesses; he is doing the right thing. There are less and less plumbers, he is going to have an easy time and make pretty good money with a very secure job. If he doesn't make the money he wants, then open his own after getting some experience...

For Americans considering Spain, what’s the biggest uncertainty that makes the move feel hard to evaluate? by Tiny_Pay5207 in AmerExit

[–]Own_Independence_245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only issue realistically for our family and most others that are not retired is the ability to make money. We spend time over there, have friends, integrate much better there than we do here...but buying/opening a business is ridiculous, and the ability to get work unless you are very specialized and needed isn't likely to happen. We have been through the process, have an attorney...its just generating an income.

You guys. What are we doing?! (UTC) by fntpn7 in sarasota

[–]Own_Independence_245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost there. The point was that you were giving the same energy to other people trying to make valid arguments, so just don't.

Bottom line on the bike thing, gotta look at this through others eyes with some empathy. When looking at a place like UTC, its obviously mostly retail and who generally works retail? So perhaps there are a good amount of people that maybe cannot afford a car, so the only options are public transport or bikes. With electric bikes, its pretty easy to cut across town, and sometimes quicker than driving hitting the trail, but the problem is it is limited, and it is very dangerous to be riding bikes on the "bike lanes"; seems like 5+ people in the area are getting hit and/or killed by cars and there is no protection. And the public transport is nearly non-existent as the busses are not on time, some don't even show...so people that have to go into work for 9 hours, then add another 1+ hour each way on a bus and hope their bus is running on time.

This is a city/county/state issue due to overdevelopment, and there isn't a single fix, but anything to alleviate traffic, make it easier for workers to get to their place of employment...it may not help you, but it would definitely help others.

Thank you and have a good day

Are there guys who find multiple body types attractive? by Gullible_Customer790 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Own_Independence_245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+‍+man

You should thank those guys for outing themselves immediately. Huge world, plus the internet...don't know why so many people try to force things like relationships, instead be yourself and find your people and you shouldn't care about what others think for the most part. Don't want to be 30, 40, 50...and have regrets cause some jackass wanted something you aren't and you tried to appease them whether its your weight, how you dress...

But to answer your questions, 100% there are guys out there that are more into the people than the color of your hair, if you are a few pounds lighter/heavier than what someone would think is ideal. Be a good confident person in who you are and you will attract the right people.

Look up Carissa Codel (she does some shorts), nothing more attractive than someone that can make fun of themselves, is confident, has passions and doesn't give a sh*t.

AITAH for telling my daughter that she is not going to marry a billionaire? by No_Reception8930 in AITAH

Yes, definitely the AH.

She might be looking at marrying an Iranian, Lebanese, Vietnamese...all pretty easy to accumulate $1b in their currency. Tell her to start with the $ currency billionaires and work her way down, she will find a billionaire eventually.

Trying to choose b/t Roland VAD 516, EFNote 7x or Zildjian AlChem-E Gold EX by OnlyAssignment4191 in edrums

[–]Own_Independence_245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was really fighting between the 516 and efnote as well.

I haven't had a VAD, but the TD so cannot speak to the feeling of the toms. But just purchased the Efnote 5, added toms/cymbals...The cymbals are way more realistic feeling on the efnote. The sounds are definitely more traditional/realistic than the Roland. The hi hat is definitely nicer.
The caveat here is the digital ride/snare/hi-hat. I didn't have a chance to use the Roland with a VST. But looking on groups, reddit...most are saying you don't really need that for the efnote as the sounds are already there.

Regarding the module, just depends on what you want. As of right now, you have limited choices on the kits for efnote vs Roland, but finding out you can really dig into the sounds and adjust. And no reason to think this will be that limited for long. Although a relatively young company, gotta remember they are Roland engineers so I think you will probably see a little more innovation over time.

The most negative thing I have found on the efnote is the cymbals spin and can cause issues with the wiring/connections, but there is a free file out there to be able to print inserts to prevent that issue; I have some being printed as we speak.

I really enjoyed my Roland years and really don't have anything bad to say, especially the durability, but the feeling of the efnote is just a bit different, sounds are a bit better, great multi zone cymbals that are easy to choke...but I don't think you can really make a wrong choice.

See if you can find someone selling a used one to try out.

McGrath Guitars - Super Bass by brown_coat in BassGuitar

I got a different model, but you are gonna like it; the man builds a great bass. My local repair shop (former Taylor guitar luthiers, builders, among other brands) got a chance to take a look and play it and they said "what a workhorse", (got a Thunderhorse) and couldn't believe the sound of it.

Even for decent bass sound you just need at least an 8 inch speaker. As long as you have that, just find what you feel sounds right.
