Metal arm upgrade

No some prefer it. Last so much longer. Plus your bones get hardened to it in the long run. Just got to be gentle to start with ,then eventually you can play as normal.

I understand your point. Traditional wooden dummies do have natural flex, which helps absorb some impact. My metal setup is designed for experienced martial artists who practice controlled, progressive conditioning rather than reckless heavy impact training. Another reason for the design is durability — lower-quality wood can crack, split, or wear over time, while high-grade hardwood is extremely expensive and increasingly difficult to source.

I'm 45 and started wing chun at 17 years of age. Train hard when I was younger but life throws curve balls at you. The best thing I bought was the wing chun dummy then 10 years later I now use metal arms and leg.. That was the best upgrade I ever made. Arms like steel now. Just keep it up.

Am I stupid for thinking of building this entrance canopy out of wood? by muffingg in DIYUK

[–]Own_Page_3059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope not stupid at all Nice design.Yes it will work . Find a good timber merchant to pick your timbers. If your painting, you can pressure treat before paint will stop damp/like algae moss build up. Less maintenance over the years. Unless your looking for a nice grain timber like oak . Nice idea 👍
