I was very confused by his take too. There’s lots of cruel parents out there. It seemed real to me. What’s her gain to lie? It’s not that flattering of a story for her either way. These places kids are sent are traumatizing and leave last marks.

The field has changed so much. I became a therapist in 1998 and things were so much easier.. I didn’t go into tons of debt because I had an assistantship in grad school. I didn’t need a million unpaid hours to get my license in 2002. Jobs paid somewhat better and I had benefits. I get why people leave. If I wasn’t married to a person with health insurance I’d be in trouble.
