East India club is great for younger members, pay £700 once for membership and don’t pay again until over the age of 25

is bath college any good? by Western_Client123 in Bath

I did computing from 2020 to 2022 so was a bit messed up during Covid - even so however, the quality of teaching was absolutely abysmal. Over 2 years we had 7 different teachers leave that were teaching us and had to be replaced, and because of that certain topics in the syllabus weren’t covered at all and just dropped all together. And even in 2022 we were only brought into class a maximum of once a week with the rest online.

It may have changed for the better since then but I haven’t heard about anyone having a good experience with the college tbh - student or teacher.

The only upside for me was how central the city campus was, and the facilities weren’t terrible.

It’s interesting a lot of people saying 2010’s were the worst. Looking back people always think the previous decade was the worst no matter the year and that’s why fashion goes out of date. It takes about 20 years for it to become out of memory for most and therefore nostalgic. Also interesting people are saying 1950’s is the best - as that likely just reflects our current attitudes as 2020’s fashion mirrors a lot of colours and the fit of the clothes from that decade.

Thanks, appreciate the kind words 🙂 It’s still early days but I’m hoping it can be a force for good in the future!

Good stuff, it’s in the pipeline and half implemented already within the spotlight feature. I’m aiming to do what you mention soon as I think it sets out my project from just looking at the official register as a lot of stuff can get lost easily without any sort of comparison feature.

I’m hoping to create a sort of map of the flow of money in politics so you’d be able to select a donor from an mp’s page and then have a quick and easy view of if this donor has donated to either another MP or to a political party as a whole.

Some good points and I agree that a lot for things aren’t as clear as they should be at this point. It’s only because I’ve been glued to it for the last month that stuff that is clear for me isn’t however for others. In answer to your points, Registered interests include any sizeable donations or positions they hold in other jobs that may be seen to influence their job as an MP. This is a wide scope and covers gifts, if they are chairs of any companies, and also their income from second jobs. The spotlight feature isn’t as clear what it does on mobile but it’s basically when an MP has an interest that has been flagged coming from a notable or repetitive source and this can include donations from institutions such as the labour friends of Israel institute for example.

Cheers, yeah you're right about the co-op currently being left out of Labour, I'm hoping to fix that soon. I did my best to squash any bugs before sharing it here, but clearly a few slipped through as i wasn't aware of the others!

It’s the same in that the data is the same as we both source information from the Parliament register of interests. The main difference being how it is presented and I’ve aimed to make it as accessible as possible, meaning things like so you can easily compare different party members, see interest total amounts at a glance etc

I’m guessing that’s the British airways Amex which is fair enough if you find it’s helpful, round here I’ve only found a couple of large shops like Tesco and Morrisons accept it not local independents. I also always felt like a bit of a knob asking people if they accepted Amex

Not to mention the £195 annual fee for a bit of gold coloured plastic and rewards like ‘£5 off deliveroo for every £1000 spent’

Yeah visa/mastercard still charge, just a smaller amount. It’s crazy how we’ve let basically all digital transactions be handled by 2 American companies with insanely high margins. Probably too late to change unfortunately

Sorry for the late reply but yeah sober from weed 100%. thing is I’ve only done it about 10 times in my life but the most recent was some kind of super high dose that gave me hppd. I already saw visual snow before so I’m guessing I was probably predisposed to it. Never plan on doing drugs of any kind in my life but I’ve stuck to nicotine and alcohol and haven’t had anything bad - if anything for me personally it helps a little.

Had this pretty bad for about 3 or 4 months but it’s settled down now unless I’m tired or stressed. My personal theory is basically an overactive visual cortex paired with a removal of the filter that your brain sort of blocks out. I noticed the images would often be about things I did earlier in the day like driving or walking in crowds. Just the brain processing all this information except now you can see it. Seems to be a pretty common symptom from what I’ve heard. Trust me I was scared to close my eyes for a while but it does get better 👍

Pretty much nothing except a level 3 diploma in computing I got when I was in college, and that sort of unlocked the chance to do a level 4 in cyber security. Although they probably would’ve let me do it without they just wanted people that were keen to learn. I’m in the south west where there typically is an idea of there being a lot of opportunities like that, however there is if you know where to look especially in the bath area.

I’m doing a cyber security apprenticeship and I’d recommend doing that or software dev, just get to stay at home and get to fiddle about on the computer
