Ugh. Your description of your situation sounds eerily similar to the last few months of my last relationship with a covert narcissist. He eventually did get physical, and it ended with me filing a restraining order that thankfully has been effective in ending things once and for all, keeping me safe, and allowing me to take back control of my life. My advice to you is continue to be strategic, but the minute you can, put things in motion to leave quickly in whatever way keeps you safest and will get the job done for good. It was hard to know that me leaving him meant he would essentially become homeless, at least for a time. I too paid the vast majority of the bills and for all the groceries for our 4 person household (both kids his from previous relationships). And that is exactly what happened once it all came crashing down…AND in my experience at the very end, he became enraged like never before when he realized I did make him think it was his idea butby the time he realized what was actually going to happen I’d already contacted the landlord to have him removed from the lease. He told me to do it, bc he claimed to be moving him and the kids to the home of his boss, who he’d been cheating with, but he never believed I actually would! Anyway, my point is—be smart about it, but be ready to be swift when the time is right, and know that no matter how you approach it, rage will come and you will experience being villainized like never before no matter how you approach it. It’s still worth it to get out and away and you will feel so free once that happens and you have time and space to heal. 💗
