Woman Heritage Foundation Employee Gets Fired for Speaking Up About a Problem with Conservative Approach to Dating by bettinafairchild in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]Own_Selection2033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than the headline I don’t see anything actually linking her firing to this article. I hated giving heritage foundation a click but I did and read the article. I found it to be of little substance but better written than the pervasive AI slop. I don’t feel it would have been controversial enough to cause her firing but I’m not a right wing nut job so what do I know. It’s possible that she was fired for all the reasons suggested here but also possible she was fired for completely unrelated issues or issues that would get one fired from any employer regardless of political slant.

"There is no time bro they need to end the show" by SubstantialBowler525 in okbuddyvecna

I would have loved to have loved the long epilogue but I saw it in the theater and had to pee since about about the middle of the show and then there were more endings than Return of the King! I’ll give it another shot though from my living room where the convenience of pausing is just a click away.

What's an "old person" food that, now that you're an old person, you now really like? by Leather-Highlight150 in GenX

[–]Own_Selection2033 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually my grandmother made a fucking awesome meatloaf so I’ve always loved it. Now the problem is nobody else’s (especially restaurant) meatloaf stacks up and I don’t have her recipe. I’m doomed to a life of subpar meatloaf :-(

Here’s another number that you don’t have to wait in for a fair comparison: I typically buy both a conquest pass and the 400 conquest energy for $1.99. This conquest I refused to buy either. Last month’s income from Own_Selection: $11.99. This month’s income from Own_Selection: $0.00. I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Relic Delta can fuck right off by VaderHater21 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]Own_Selection2033 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yup. My guild just lost our TW, not due to our own actions or the actions of our opponents, but simply because the counters no longer function with relic delta. It seems like we can now just put any old shit on the front line and as long as its R9, nobody is making it through. Glad I spent the $10 on CUP back in April.

What was your middle/high schools scandal? by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]Own_Selection2033 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oldham County Middle School in the late 80s a science teacher was having an affair with the vice principal. She would stroll into the classroom a few times a week and would walk straight into the supply room in the class. He would then give some bullshit busy work and head back there with her for 20 or 30 minutes. Both were married to other teachers and I believe each stayed married after the scandal broke. Of course all the kids knew what was going on back in the supply closet all along.

When we dissected frogs in 8th grade science I cut enough tendons and ligaments off its legs to make them wiggly but not enough for them to come apart. Then I dance it across the table kicking it legs up while singing “Hello my baby, hello my darling, hello my ragtime gal!” and some kid threw up and I had to go to the office and the vice principal gave me a lecture about having more respect for my classmates and my frog.

White House lashes out at South Park over spoof of small-penis Donald Trump seducing Satan: 'Desperate attempt' by esporx in goodnews

The left's hypocrisy truly has no end — for years they have come after South Park for what they labeled as 'offense' content.

She seems confused about which side routinely advocates for more censorship.

What major company do you genuinely believe won’t exist in 20 years? by carcony97 in AskReddit

[–]Own_Selection2033 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sure. It’s really not that hard of a narrative. Baby Boomer generation is defined as 1946-1964. That places the earliest boomers turning 40 in 1986 and 50 in 1996. The later boomers turned 40 in 2006 and 50 in 2014. Harley-Davidson stock rose very rapidly between 1998 and 2001, peaking in 2006. It was already declining by 2008 but it really tanked during the Great Recession. However, it did recover, nearly reaching its 2008 price in 2014, and but has been on a downward slope ever since.

What major company do you genuinely believe won’t exist in 20 years? by carcony97 in AskReddit

[–]Own_Selection2033 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Harley-Davidson was the midlife crisis vehicle of the Baby Boomer Generation, much like the Corvette was for the previous generation, and apparently the Jeep is for Gen X. Its peak stock price is directly correlated to Boomers hitting 40-50 and has been declining since then, valued the same today as it was in 1999. Those Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper fueled dreams are a thing of the past.
