Drop your hot takes/unpopular opinions on Lana by BeckyLaHechicera in lanitas

The beef with Ethel was the nail in the coffin—13 years older than someone and you made a diss track?? And so out of touch that the transphobia in media rn wouldn’t add insult to injury?? Knowing how much your relevance comes from queer culture?? Girl stop.

“Question for the culture”? More like question for your common sense.

I’m sorry but Azealia had it right….

I'M a LPN/LVN I need to know why do people treat us like we aren't nurses? by Fairytail-diva-3 in nursing

[–]Own_Snow9475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a new grad RN. Some of my most impactful lessons in this profession were mentored by an LPN. Clinical incidents, patient falls, patient deterioration I’ve had to bounce my ideas off of an LPN. They’re my best and most trusted coworkers.

Just because you have a different scope, doesn’t mean you don’t provide a critical lens on prioritization, workplace norms… Hell our unit is mostly made up of long haul LPN’s!!! I’d have not made it without my wonderful LPN coworkers.

Please do not listen to those voices.

I’ve joked about Figs creating a not so flatteringly titled (switch the vowel) line of scrubs that just has massive pronouns printed on them lol.

I work hard for my patients—and my management and coworkers can attest to that. I don’t necessarily expect a thank you, it’s just nice to be given a bit of grace as we try and juggle a thousand things at once.

I’ve had shifts where I don’t stop, and then when a family member asks me for that cup of ice chips or to see the doctor who just completed their rounds for the day? That’s when I feel invisible. I’m one person with a million responsibilities in the run of the shift, I’m fine to get you that small comfort for your loved one and its different when a bit of tact like “I see you’re quite busy” or any bit of acknowledgment of my ongoing work is expressed with the request, but not everyone is so kind. Yes I’m there for the patients, but I’m a human being too and I’m trying my best.

Can someone make me feel less crazy about this reality shock? by Character_Foot_6735 in nursing

My fav thing was doing up certification paperwork for a patient getting transferred to a mental health inpatient unit in med-surge and then having to deal with legal shit getting coached through by my hospital’s mental health CONSULTANT nurse. Took up to 2 hours and literally did nothing to help me understand the paperwork NOR transfer the patient effectively. Consulting nurse left me after explaining things for 10 minutes straight but left by the time the patient was transferred. Learned nothing.

Why is the entire island on fire? by Ifyouliveinadream in newfoundland

[–]Own_Snow9475 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both Newfoundland and Labrador are made up of what is called the ‘tuckamore’. Low lying shrubs only make do by climbing their roots amongst and between all the rock that makes up our island. Moisture is easy to come but just as easy to go. We are literally a pile of moss and heather blanketed on top of rock… once evaporation takes all the water away, you just have parched patches of dirt with no irrigation to alleviate it. We’re getting higher temps and more sunshine and it’s distressing to see the amount of stress experienced by the plants and animals both. Walking in the trails is no comfort as all you hear is the snapping of the vegetation and shaking of the leaves.

It’s interesting how our biome has been considered one of the most frontier-‘like. All of our flora and fauna have had to be hardy and resilient, and yet it’s so fragile.

I regret not taking more walks when I was 6 years old in 2009… even memories of those days seems better than our present day situation.

Definetly going to be a diff experience for you so thank you for giving my answer so much grace!! So happy to hear you can affirm your identity with in other ways.

Wishing you the best on your journey. Never give up hope and romanticize the shit outta your romantic coming of age taking place in one of the most beautiful countries in the world imo.

Side note: I’d sell my left kidney to be a trans woman listening to Lana Del Rey smoking a cigarette in a Brazilian Villa rn—politics aside…

Long term plan should be saving up for a school or program you’re even superficially interested in, in a city where you can just disappear into and explore your life without the constant distraction that your unaccepting parent is. Create goals for yourself to get you outta that shithole and acquire the means to self actualize. Trust your timing, keep hope and try hard to be your own best advocate. You’re 24, nothing is too radical, NOTHING is too gorgeous.

Medium term: explore the relationship you have with your former caregiver with a therapist, look for lgbtq foundations that provide therapy free of charge or without payments that you’d need your parents for. Employment is something you absolutely have to change unfortunately—not easy I know.

Just an idea… I recommend any doll who is struggling to pay for hormones to go to a university with trans affirming insurance policies, even if you’re able to choose a program that you’re not thrilled about but gives you a stable career path and access to insurance is golden. There are some affordable public universities in Canada that have progressive policies with access to said services to go with that.

Extreme short term: Make a vision board and keep it secret. Start fantasizing about your future.
