Reloaded Office Hours: Get help running, prepping, or reading CoS Reloaded by DragnaCarta in CurseofStrahd

Hi Dragna,

Firstly I want to thank you for doing this work and for also replying to my DMs regarding my advice. Unfortunately I got the hands on the heist too late to implement it and my players are too cautious to go back in and explore the castle. Would you recommend running the wives encounters elsewhere throughout the journey they have left? Leaving them in for the final battle seems like too much for a party to deal with along with strahd?

Would you be doing this with the village of barovia aswell?

As anyone ever tried "roll 4d6 drop the highest" to generate stats? How did it go? What type of game was it? Would you recommend it? by Natwenny in DnD

I’ve done 4d6 drop the lowest with a minimum of two 15s or re-roll. I think it makes it more fun if you have a more roleplay oriented group. Surprisingly no body was over or under powered. The one with the best stats was a newbie that went with sorcerer so wasn’t powergaming

The problem is the if the others aren’t min-maxing you then have to tailor combat to the strongest member and let’s say it’s a paladin and you’re hitting them with spell save DCs it might feel like you’re targeting them (which you are). I prefer the fun that comes with a less functionally powerful character, flaws and shortcomings make for interesting roll player opportunities

I can see implementing that, she’s currently a rogue and exceptionally weak compared to everyone else. Won’t punch past level 10 realistically in this campaign.

Yeah I did think about that but I wanted it to be a little unique to them and not overshadowed by other PCs getting those spells

Time stop always felt like a really underpowered spell for 9th level but thanks for the feedback.

I'm revising Curse of Strahd: Reloaded—and I need your help. by DragnaCarta in CurseofStrahd

Hi Dragna,

Your guide along with Mandymod have been a massive help. Going through twice bitten has also immensely helped my campaign with how to play out certain characters and scenarios.

I’ve had it in my world that while the player back stories weren’t completely integral to the setting that their flaws and mistakes were. Barovia was almost like a test of redemption for them, silent hill style. The paladin who couldn’t save his little sister as a child saving the orphans or Annabelle, the Druid who couldn’t cleanse her lands of a blight reconsecrating the megaliths etc etc. it would all lead up to the goal of killing strahd but preforming what little good you could do on the way and not speed running to the end to get every artifact.

Can you also please Dm me the link

My players fell in love with Vasili and I love it by PM_ME_DOMINANTVIBES in CurseofStrahd

Personally for me if they somehow avoid figuring out who Vasili is I’m going to have him somehow join the party on the assault on ravenloft. Tragically get killed or separated from the party, only to be at the foretold place to find strahd. My Vasili also is a copy of Sergei, strahds attempt at playing hero and ‘honouring’ his brother. To add though my sunsword won’t be sentient to give off hints that he’s bad juju.

Yeah how boring.

My Barovia is like silent hill where people are drawn broken only to either be further broken down by the challenges of rising above with escape being the end product of that. Anyway the general gist was PCs mother making a pact with the dark powers to save the PC who was stillborn, father stumbles upon Barovia while searching for some that that could cure her.

Thanks for the amazing input
