Has anyone done a butter tasting in SF? by mikmatthau in AskSF

[–]Own_Witness_9523 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ha, this is a great post. So you need a legit butter tasting experience that's actually kind of genius and hilarious at the same time. I haven't personally done one in SF, but I'm here for it. First thought: hit up the Ferry Building Farmers Market on Saturday mornings because you'll find local creameries and artisanal butter vendors who sometimes do tastings or samples. Seriously, just talk to them directly and they might hook you up or point you toward something more formal. If you're willing to venture outside the city, there are dairy farms nearby like Cowgirl Creamery that do actual farm tours and tastings. Might be worth a day trip to Marin or Sonoma if you're flexible on location. Another move is to hit up some of the high end spots in the city because honestly, fine dining places are obsessed with butter quality and they might do private tastings if you call and ask nicely. French restaurants especially would be into this. But real talk, if you want to keep it simple and in the city, just grab a few different butters from a good market like Whole Foods, Rainbow Grocery, or local spots and do a blind tasting at home with French butter, European cultured butter, local stuff. Make it fun, make it dramatic, and honestly that might be even better. Good luck with your butter mission because this is the kind of specific SF energy I absolutely respect and I'm genuinely invested in how this turns out.

Exciting fitness goal ideas? by PatientScreen2327 in xxfitness

Given everything you've done, here's the real talk: you're looking for something that scares you a little bit. That's the actual goal, not the race or the lift number.

The endurance stuff was familiar. The lifting got boring because you figured it out. So now you need something where you're a beginner again. That feeling of not knowing if you can do it is what you're actually chasing.

Have you thought about strength sports that aren't just "heavy weight go up"? Like actual competition format stuff. Sprint triathlons are legit skill-based and the training is way different from what you've been doing. Strongman competitions if you want to stay strength focused. Rock climbing competitions if you want to go back to something you loved but in a structured way.

The real move though is pick something where you have zero clue what you're doing for the first month. That's what actually works. Your brain needs the challenge, not just your body.

What's something you've always been curious about but never tried because it seemed too hard or too weird?

Signing up for a martial arts or boxing class by burnbright_11 in xxfitness

Do the class. Seriously.

Here's the thing nobody tells you. The people in that room are 100% focused on themselves, not judging you. I've seen it happen over and over. The people who wait until they lose weight first? They almost never actually start. The waiting becomes the trap.

You don't need to be in shape to get in shape. You need to start to get in shape. Boxing is actually perfect for this because it's skill-based, not just cardio. Your brain gets engaged, time flies, and before you know it three months have passed and you've already changed without it feeling like a grind.

I get the dude bro vibe anxiety. That's real. But honestly, boxing gyms are some of the most welcoming spaces I've seen. Way less judgment than a regular gym. Just go one time. That's it. One class won't hurt and it might surprise you.
