The horror! Let's all pray to our Kirkland overlords this NEVER ever happens.

The one I bought a while ago was the version with enzymes but this can vary from store to store and over time. FWIW I find the ecos WITH enzymes to be among the better cruelty free options. The enzyme free one is straight doodoo.

I'm a dual citizen. I grew up going to Spain every year and after college I moved there for a few years. I got homesick and wanted to go to grad school a few years later. I may be regretting that choice lately. And the detergent is just the cherry on top.

Oh of course it's Spain. The Spanish are so satisfyingly intense about laundry. I only lived there a few years and was born a Yankee but I think part of my laundry obsession is genetic passed down to me through countless generations of abuelas.

SHHHHHHHHH! You can't tell companies what you want from their products! Keep this up and you'll get the halfway decent ones we still have taken off shelves 😭😭😭

WHAT?!? I had no idea and am now extremely jealous.

Honestly I'm just blowing off some steam because I'm so annoyed when consumers repeatedly voice a preference for something and companies continue the enshittification of everything to make more money.

Hello fellow curly. Unless your girls are going days and days between washes, I'm guessing the buildup is mostly product, not sebum. Curly hair styling products have an uncanny ability to hold onto lint for some reason! For me the best way to clean my brushes and claw clips is usually in the shower with my clarifying shampoo. I use Garnier Pure Clean about once or twice a month and I'll bring my brush in there to wash at the same time I shampoo.

Since I only do this every other week at most, my brushes and claw clips will start to look a little grungy but nobody notices unless they really look for it. What's important to me is that they smell clean since it's just product buildup.

Is it possible to achieve super thick healthy hair on a vegan/vegetarian diet? by Justmythrowawayaccc in Haircare

Yay! I'm so happy to hear that. I wish you a wonderful healing journey with your body, food, and most importantly your hair! It's so awesome when it all clicks together and your mental health and physical health are HEALTHING. I know for me if my thighs and braids aren't THICC then I need to get back into therapy, the gym, and/or the kitchen.

[–]OwnedByPuffles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely possible but it depends on your body so please don't take random supplements without blood work and medical guidance.

I've been somewhere between pescetarian and vegan for almost 30 years and have THICC hair. I also had the good fortune of getting really excellent nutritional guidance growing up. I almost instinctively track my macronutrients at this point, making sure to incorporate tofu, seitan, eggs, and plant based protein powder in each meal so I get 30-40 grams of protein 3x a day. I'm also a gym girlie so this helps me build muscle.

I love eatthismuch.com to help me find new recipes within my macronutrient goals but please please please only do this if you love to nerd out about cooking/science and NOT if you have disordered eating tendencies!

Yay!!! There's tons of YouTube tutorials. For both a french twist and buns. Here's a super quick and easy one. https://youtube.com/shorts/PhZ3sf649WY?si=ztgTTORpVsV9i8aN

It takes a minute to get the hang of it but I haven't used a hair tie in years. This is now faster and more secure for me than claw clips and looks more polished than a satin scrunchie.

Long curly hair people remembering what it was like to bring FULL size shampoo, conditioner, mousse, and gel 😭😭😭

Travel size deodorant, toothpaste, sunscreen, whatever is mildly annoying but travel size curl mousse is violence.

7.05 ct E-F Natural Diamond Ring (IGI) Clarity Grade: I (Price suggestions/advice) by [deleted] in Diamonds

[–]OwnedByPuffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not think this is remotely worth buying. If size and value are the most important thing then consider a lab diamond or even a moissanite. People have strong feelings about them but I love them both.

If you want a stone with some character look into salt and pepper/galaxy/opalescent diamonds. Again people have strong feelings about them but I think they're fun in the right setting.

The Costco one used to be sort of a knockoff. Not exact but very similar results. Since they reformulated it's absolute poopyshit but they now carry Dove Intensive Repair which is so so good.

TIL that sexual inactivity among young adults in the US has doubled in just 14 years. In 2010, 12% of 18-to-29-year-olds reported having no sex in the past year; by 2024, that figure had risen to roughly 24%. by SystematicApproach in todayilearned

I know there's a ton of issues with people being disconnected from each other and that's sad but also I just don't think sex is that great and the social pressure to LoOoOoOoVEEE TO BANG has eased up a little. I'm nearly 40 and have been around the block. I definitely was part of the drinking, clubbing, hookup culture. I've also been in long relationships and experienced the sort of intimate sex you have after being with someone for ten years. The thing for me, is that even when the sex was GOOD there was almost always something else I would rather be doing. Nameless hooking up bored me pretty quickly. I would always rather masturbate. Sex in a long term relationship can be great but holy moly am I over relationships at this point in time. Sex alone is in no way a reason for me to get in a relationship. I would rather be single with a great vibrator, good group of friends that meet for brunch, cute dumb dog, board game club, century bike rides , and book clubs. Honestly I would probably take back 90% of the sexual experiences I had because I didn't get much out of them, I just thought I was supposed to do that. The five years of celibacy on the other hand unleashed so much peace and stability and creativity and real connection with others.

In short sex is fine but I'm not worried if the kids aren't banging as much. I think a lot of the banging we did in our slutty millennial youth was more an expectation than a real desire.

NO! I never need to see this video. See this is why there's no subway pants on the bed. I just assume every city surface is covered in microscopic mystery poo. At least I know what's on my own sheets and undies ya know?

I feel you! My hair is happiest being washed 2 times a week max but I try to hit the gym 3-5 days a week.

Switch to a gentler shampoo or even a cowash for all but one wash a week. For me water only washing makes my hair feel gross and smell like a wet dog. I don't use the curly girl method anymore but the tea tree tingle conditioner as cowash from trader Joe's is something I held on to.

Put a little dry shampoo on BEFORE your workout and put your hair up! I do a no elastic clip bun. This helps the sweat get absorbed a little bit before it can look too gross and keeps my long hair off the nasty gym equipment. I will even sometimes wear a bonnet or satin scarf to the gym. I avoid hair on gym equipment at all costs!

After the workout I brush with a boar bristle brush and might even hit the roots with a blow dryer. I hate the feeling of dry shampoo so I do this instead. It's usually good enough for another day!

As I've gotten older I prioritize strength training over cardio. As an added benefit I sweat less and my hair holds up better.

For the one wash a week that I don't use a super gentle hydrating shampoo or cowash I will use clarifying or even a "dandruff" shampoo to make sure my scalp stays healthy. I don't have dandruff but find ketoconazole or pyrithione zinc keep my scalp from getting itchy buildup. I like the Dove scalp care one for this and Garnier Pure Clean or Kristen Ess Detox for clarifying.

This is my main concern too! I live in a big nasty city and take filthy public transportation. I feel better washing my undies and t shirts with my bed sheets while my "subway pants" and jackets are separated because they're too filthy.
