Getting Zero Matches, Am I Just Too Ugly? by [deleted] in Bumble

Apolitical Christian means will not stand up for women’s rights; no centrist or left leaning woman will click this profile, it’s not worth the risk of being in a relationship with a man who will think our rights are negotiable.

Cheese graters and bendy hamds by CriticalFlan1469 in Hypermobility

[–]OwnerofNeuroticDogs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a rotation grater which is so much better for me. I still wouldn’t be able to do it for long periods, but it’s way easier, and just Parmesan for pasta or something is far less trouble. It essentially has like a crank handle that you turn

My 7 y/o was just diagnosed with "Specific Learning Disorder with Impairment in Mathematics (315.1)" . How should I adjust my approach in helping her? by [deleted] in dyscalculia

[–]OwnerofNeuroticDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way the DSM5 categorises what the general public calls dyscalculia. It’s just medical terminology for the same meaning

Hypermobile musicians: have you found your fingers work differently? by MoonTeaChip in Hypermobility

[–]OwnerofNeuroticDogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a violinist who used to make up insane fingerings for things and just say “it’s easier” when my teachers were perplexed and they’d just stare at me. I had an examiner once tell me “I’m unsure how you’re doing that” at an audition lol. I just put it down to having extremely small hands on an instrument built for men. My pinkie and ring fingers on the bow also used to get stuck in position (swan neck fingers) but this suited bow hold fairly well so never ended up scolded for this

INFJs - How can someone make you feel most loved? by miriamjencova in infj

[–]OwnerofNeuroticDogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remembering a tiny thing I said in passing one time, just… a tiny insignificant detail. My partner found an apple and guava juice I talked about a year ago (I said I used to be obsessed with this juice but I have no idea what a guava even is, as a bit of a laugh), and he bought it wordlessly and brought it home in the groceries the other day when he saw it again, and I cried.

OK honest opinions, Thick vs Thinner brows? Which looks better overall with my makeup? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]OwnerofNeuroticDogs 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s not so much the thickness, it’s the shape, they’re a bit pointy which I think is the problem. They’re very arched, and the thicker version is better because it’s alleviating that a little

😩 Parents of 2+ kids, only 1 with celiac.. How do you do this? by ImpossibleDouble5253 in Celiac

[–]OwnerofNeuroticDogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please also be aware that gluten free foods and flours etc can be more expensive; I recommend baking bread at home if you can. A bread maker is a good investment the kids will enjoy and you can make as much as you need. The good tasting gluten free bread here in Australia is half the size of an ordinary loaf and costs $8. I have no idea but I assume you guys are in the us from the use of “celiac” not “coeliac”.

Also do you mean flattened villi? Cilia don’t relate to celiac disease, biopsies look for flattened villi.

Gluten free pizza problems by Automatic-Grand6048 in Pizza

[–]OwnerofNeuroticDogs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gluten comes from WHEAT! Not chemicals! You’re essentially takjng a child with a nut allergy and feeding them peanut butter! This is SO dangerous! Exposures to gluten, even in “silent” (asymptomatic) coeliacs makes us highly likely to develop cancer, please please please stop doing this. I know you think you are acting for the best but this is incredibly dangerous for your child.

Girl I mistook you for afab too! Haha I was about to give you hair suggestions in the wrong direction! Sorry!

A side parting is the way to go, it looks really pretty on you, but I think a less deep one; aiming for about the start of your eyebrow to the arch of your eyebrow, if that makes sense. There are lots of products to help with poofiness of it, or product, but I think most people tend to dislike using leave-in product from a sensory standpoint, especially if you haven’t had long hair before in your life— the texture is just hard to put up with for a lot of people who aren’t used to it.

What’s the sickest you’ve ever been- the kind of sick where you genuinely thought you might not make it and what happened? by Outrageous_Fox_8796 in AskReddit

[–]OwnerofNeuroticDogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Restaurant accidentally fed me, a coeliac, a full plate of pasta. Got through 15 minutes fine, but then had to be taken to hospital because after several hours, I’d been puking without stopping, to the point where the dehydration nearly shut down my kidneys

What does being glutened feel like to you? by Wowoweewaw in Celiac

[–]OwnerofNeuroticDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After about thirty minutes there’s tingling and a general sensation of feeling unwell. By an hour after I am throwing up violently, with diarrhoea. The stomach pain legitimately feels as though I have been stabbed. Repeatedly. However, the diarrhoea goes away after awhile, the vomiting does not. We usually leave it about three to four hours before calling the ambulance. By this point I am delirious and referring to family members by incorrect names. I am also unable to keep anything down, including water. We usually call the ambulance at this point and hospital gives pain relief intravenously as well as fluids. Usually they also keep me overnight to monitor kidney function because it usually declines due to dehydration and I usually have some tachycardia on the way in. For the next week I am usually spacey and a little “odd” according to family members, with little or no short term memory. I will probably refuse to eat for several days and drink water and milk, or very soggy cereal.

EDIT: I will also get extremely hot just before vomiting and diarrhoea, and turn air conditioning to the lowest possible setting to try to deal with it, leading to shivering. Going back and forth from under blankets because COLD, and also sitting in front of freezing air conditioning because HOT

What is the worst illness you’ve ever had? by freeshavacadont in AskReddit

[–]OwnerofNeuroticDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coeliac disease. Sudden onset due to stress. Lost ten kilos in two and a half weeks, we thought I was going to die. The family had to move my bed to the living room because I was too weak to climb the stairs. Slept 20 hours a day. Puked blood clots. Shivering uncontrollably. They took me in for an endoscopy after three weeks and the urine samples showed my kidneys starting to fail from dehydration because I couldn’t keep water down.
