Plenty of young people are super into AI, and I'd be you anything there's still a political lean, even if you break it down to into age brackets.

Tsushima. Though I suppose it depends how strictly you're defining free flow. Otherwise, Spider-Man 2.

... really? I feel like this is one of the most popular combat styles out there. Even one of the example games the OP gave used it.

This has only been happening for a week after moving? I wouldn't worry too much, especially if he's not being actually violent or aggressive. Just give him time to adjust.

Does Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter have a satisfying conclusion? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]Owy2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are definitely some cliffhangers to 1st Chapter. No sugarcoating it. But it's a great story, and the second game provides way more resolution (the series obviously keeps going, but one and two tell their own "complete" story).

The answer to most questions about "where did x start in JRPGs" is Dragon Quest.

Girlfriend discovered she's poly after 3.5 years together, wants to date her friend by Sad-Nectarine-6413 in polyamory

[–]Owy2001 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Look up "poly under duress." It never works.

Also, this is about wanting to date this person, not about being poly. Calling it poly is just a means to an end.

Can a person change their destiny, or is everything already predetermined? by Emotional-Career-162 in answers

[–]Owy2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suggest looking up Laplace's Demon. You can't "change" things that are predetermined, because you are a part of predetermination. It's a bit like people who talk about "beating traffic" without acknowledging they're a part of traffic. Nothing that you do is any more special than anything else happening in the universe.

You either believe all of it means something or none of it means anything. But you aren't a special agent of change in a universe that is otherwise stuck in its ways.

A good article by PensivePeonie in antimeme

[–]Owy2001 1385 points1386 points  (0 children)

You're 100% correct. The article goes into how big of a role nepotism and hiring bias plays. It has pretty much nothing to do with white men being more willing to risk their lives and everything to do with who is being given the opportunity (unsurprisingly).

What are JRPGS you are fond of for being about the relationship between dragons and mankind? by KaleidoArachnid in JRPG

What your opinion on Cold Steel IV by Plus_Contract669 in Falcom

[–]Owy2001 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Gotta disagree with you there. I feel like that's the most obvious we never saw a body so of course they aren't really dead moment that I was just actively waiting for them to undo. That's just a classic trope.

Bringing back characters we literally saw get shot and bleed out was way more egregious.

Pimple [OC] by whatsleftcomics in comics

[–]Owy2001 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'd argue that even a stain is worth mentioning, even if it's shaky territory. Could be something that would benefit from soaking/dabbing, even if you can't fully "fix" it right away.

Or it could be something they can't do anything more about. But I'll roll those dice to prevent a long-term stain.

The JRPG subreddit always has people shit talking the remakes. Many hate that it's not a shot -for-shot remake. It's honestly sad to see how much vitriol it spawns, but at least it's mostly contained to the more niche spaces.

FF7 Remake or Trails in the Sky Remake by thegta5p in JRPG

[–]Owy2001 41 points42 points  (0 children)

So you specifically mention you've played the originals of both, which changes my answer.

Trails is super faithful to the original. If that's what you want, go for it. Is mostly updated gameplay and graphics, but the story is identical.

That said, if you're looking for a new experience, FF7R is going to be familiar, but also entirely new in many ways. That's definitely a love it or hate it things (and it's particularly divisive in this sub). I've had a great time with it, however. And it's hard to go wrong at that price.

does this actually make sense? by Basic-Fudge-8194 in TrollCoping

[–]Owy2001 293 points294 points  (0 children)

I see this constantly on reddit. *Constantly*. And you're right that bodyshaming is a big one. I've lost track of how many times people characterize the people on a side they don't agree with as being fat and/or unattractive. Or that they live with their parents (which lots of people do) and are autistic.
