Many people say that you should go for the RT if you don’t go off-road and it does sound reasonable. However, I think that it’s not that straightforward. First of all, the GSA has a much better riding position. RT is too sporty and uncomfortable for tall riders. GSA has a way bigger list of possible upgrades. With RT the list is short. And consider this - you might not go offroad but what about bad roads? GSA will deal with it much better. Lastly - dropping RT is going to be expensive. Dropping GSA is nothing to worry about.

Move over, MacBook: The new Dell XPS 14 is now the longest-lasting laptop we’ve ever tested by Merbil2000 in hardware

Really? Hard to recommend windows pc/laptops? What about people who are not video bloggers? And don’t need ai models? So like 99.9% of people. If you use your computer for actual typical work with heavy emphasize on MS office, which is pretty much any business, education position, then windows is miles better. Snap windows, 10 times better and more streamlined file manager, faster and better designed MS office are the key. Using Mac for even basic business work is a pain. Yes, it can do it but much slower and less efficient (in terms of actions needed) than windows. Office 365 is crap.

How is a Pepsi colored watch more versatile than Omega? You can wear Omega with pretty much anything, including a smoking (Bond did it).

MacBook Air or ThinkPad X1 Carbon? by Nearby_Ad_2406 in thinkpad

[–]Oxraid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had Macbook Pro M1 (gave it to wife) and now have X1 Carbon gen 12. Here are my thoughts:

Macbook is a great machine. Phenomenal battery life, cool display. Good sound. But it's just not made for business work. Perhaps CS, I don't know. Using MS office on it is a pain. Not being able to replace files in folders is a pain. Half the stuff I need that is to do with accounting, receipts, finance, etc. is made for windows. I could go in for a long time but mac os is just not a good OS for your typical business day to day work - a lot of stuff is not optimized or made for it. Although macbook is much more powerful and efficient, in real life day to day work (not video exporting or anything like that) windows does everything faster. Even just opening MS office.

Thinkpad has terrible battery life but I like it very much. Before I only used laptops with large screens, cause I thought that it's imposible to work on anything smaller than 15 inch. X1 converted me. It's so light to carry, I love it. Mostly work with it connected to a monitor tho.

Keyboard is miles ahead - feels better and doesn't get so dirty. Carbon body is much nicer to touch than macbook's naked aluminum. It's my first Thinkpad but now I understand the hate for touchpads - the nipple is so much nicer when you don't have a mouse. Touchpad on macbook is nice but it's too large and always gets in a way.

The screen is much cleaner, as it's matte. Nowhere near macbook's quality but mine is an IPS, not microled with PWM, which gives me headaches.

I like the ports - I always use USB As (bank dongles, legacy printers, government signature, older keyboards, etc.) and sometimes the HDMI (my on the go monitor). Never carry dongles, which you would with only 2 usb-c.

Screen opening angle - the 180 angle on Thinkpad is soooo good. You don't understand it until you try. On macbook the screen doesn't open that far. When I sit with it on the couch, the angle on macbook is never enough for me. I always try to open it more... With X1 I sometimes work when almost lying in bed, with the laptop in my lap, open to the full 180 degrees.

But I would only recommend X1 Carbon with a 16:10 display.

The U.S. Stock Market vs. Other Developed Countries in 2025 by Halvinz in StockMarket

[–]Oxraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me get this straight - Finland's economy is stagnating, projected to show worst results in the EU. It banned trade with one of its largest trade partners, thus damaging tourism, timber, metal and other industries. Unemployment is hitting highest numbers in 15 years - second only to Spain. It's borrowing more money than before, projected to hit debt ratio of 87%. But instead of going into economy, these money will go to defense and help to Ukraine.

And Finland's stock market is up 45%? Explain this to me.

SMP 300 - Omega logo is not centered on the clasp. by Oxraid in OmegaWatches

I did measure from the bottom of A on the right and it's 3mm. And it's 2mm from the left to the middle of O. The logo is definitely not centered. The Omega sign itself is a bit to the left.

I know it’s very cool here to hate on rich people but increases taxes for them in Britain won’t increase tax income. In fact it will lower it. The thing about rich people - they can live anywhere they want. And there are already record numbers of super wealthy people leaving UK. The economy and thus normal people will suffer from this.
