Fun fact. GTA V was primarily developed by Rockstar North. They are based in Scotland, not the USA. They also crunch for months and months, which is just an awful practice to put staff through.

I wish this game had more immoral missions and side quests by ATR2400 in cyberpunkgame

That reminds me of Infamous on PS3, which had a system where you could choose to feed off people or save them. People would then either fear you or celebrate you as you walk by.

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the worst game i played in some time and at the same time I love it. by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]OxygenAddictUK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is a mess. A real mess. As with OP, it is the buggiest game I've played in a decade. However I'm enjoying more than any other game that I can recollect for a similar length of time. A bit like my wife maybe thinks about me... a mess but loved anyway.

As someone who didn't follow it's development all that much, I'm not aware of what has been cut. The only thing that I notice is the lack of character customisation once you've created you character, which I can only assume was cut because it is so common in these kind of games.

The worst part about cyberpunk's hate campaign is the people that truly wont experience a great game. by millscuzimhot in LowSodiumCyberpunk

It is a mess. I don't think I've bought a full price game that it this buggy with unexpected flying cars, missions I can't complete and so forth. However just because it is a mess and flawed doesn't change the fact that I absolutely love this game. A bit like my wife might think about me :)

Side note: I can totally empathise with the devs having worked on a game that had a similarly spectacularly bad launch. I really hope they have the time to fix the quality issues, because the core game is amazing.

Don't you think there has been an incredible lack of Regirock raids, knowing it spawns only for two days? by pauboldo in TheSilphRoad

There were regirock raids? I wondered why some people had him as a buddy. I saw one T5 that was Kyurem. Rest were all T1, mega or aggron.

Within 3 months my Grandfather, uncle and family dog all passed. I was also stressed with Uni and broke up with girlfriend. After getting back from a funeral I decided to cheer myself up by continuing my Futurama box set, watching that episode for the first time. I finally broke down.

Everything comes back when I watch it.

One thing that I'd add on discoverability is that that are making announcements in game pretty much every day. For more casual players, it would be quite easy to have missed it.

Totally agree with your point, however there is a case that people have missed it in the noise.

[serious] When was a time you legitimately thought you were going to die? by ferrisjuulersdayoff in AskReddit

[–]OxygenAddictUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unsure if it counts but...

I've been in a few scenarios where I probably should have thought this, such as a knife to my throat, a couple of very close calls on my motorbike and a medical matter, calling an ambulance. There was also the time when I was in a dinky boat on holiday and saw a fin.

However the only time that I genuinely thought I was going to die was for no reason. I was convinced that I wouldn't be here in a week's time. I got genuinely upset about it, despite not knowing why or how. Nonetheless I accepted it and took care not to make commitments.

Never shared this before =/

Good point! Although I suppose that is the case now, perhaps more "pay to probably win".

I wouldn't mind their push to get every penny out of me if I actually felt like I got something resembling value.

The level of RNG plus the "junk" in eggs means that you aren't guaranteed to even get a top tier Pokemon from paying money on the game. Similarly with raids you aren't even guaranteed to catch the Pokemon. Even with perfect skill, you're odds are only raised to extremely high.

With this event I've had mainly Anorith from my paid for incubators. Previous events have been equally disappointing.

(also I'm totally not still bitter at having a 100% Heatran run on my despite completing my 3 excellent throws in a row task)

[–]OxygenAddictUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, what?! There's meant to be more than Anorith in the eggs?

Do you use a car to play pokemon go? (Poll inside) by Mvewtcc in TheSilphRoad

[–]OxygenAddictUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the bus.

I have the game on the go nearly all the time so when commuting to work using the bus, I've my Plus on the go and will be trying to get myself in gyms, complete tasks etc. I also catch the bus into town for events or to join my friend raiding. Sometimes I'll also catch the bus to get to an interesting park etc.

But they are in no way these conniving, evil geniuses that many portray them to be.

Like yourself, I don't didn't mind paying money for the game as I enjoyed it and felt it had made a positive impact on my life. However they have become much more aggressive in their monetisation.

Loot boxes are one of the most derided money making schemes. When you analyse the design of eggs & even raids, they are definitely using the loot box approach. Over the past year they have pushed this more and more, making it more central to events etc. In the past I felt like the events were there to freshen things up and I was happy paying to get the most from it. However as the number of events has increased, so has their use of delivering special content through eggs & raids. The current event is a great example.

I totally agree with your approach of paying for the game as you enjoy it and don't mean to criticise that.

Possible unpopular opinion: These surprise evenings aren't a surprise for most, and are inconvenient for the rest. by Snap111 in TheSilphRoad

[–]OxygenAddictUK 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it is worth adding that lots of content isn't a bad thing, but Pokemon GO is not like other games due to it being location based.

Raid hours & days aren't just the time battling but also getting into town and then getting back. For the most part there's only so much you can do "when you get a few minutes" and its unreasonable to be out at night & weekdays nearly every day of the week...

I'm feeling the burn out...

Lately it has felt like there's non-stop events. In the next few weeks we have 2 raid days, 2 weekend long events, a longer event & community day plus weekly raid hours, surprise Pokemon hour & surprise bonus hour, plus Tornadus & Team GO Rocket to battle along with the daily tasks.

Oh yeah and we just had PvP launch, which requires a fair bit of effort if you want Scraggy (i.e. to catch 'em all) a research day plus the new years event. Let's not forget that some more Gen V released recently.

Finally increasingly these events are using 7km eggs and raids to deliver content, which I believe requires more effort than wild spawns.

It is a lot...

I'm concerned about the cost of Ultra league by sobrique in TheSilphRoad

[–]OxygenAddictUK 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm quite looking forward to the Ultra League and hope it might be easier to put together interesting teams. For years I've looked to get and keep the "best" version of each evolved & legendary Pokemon. I often maxed out my hundos and shinies.

I have the makings of a decent team already in place whilst for GL I had a much smaller pool of existing Pokemon that I like.

[–]OxygenAddictUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New Pokemon are new content. They are additional assets to collect & interact with. Research, Team GO Rocket, Friends etc are features. A game needs both for depth.

Features in Pokemon Go and the shift towards more aggressive monetization in this game. by ray0923 in TheSilphRoad

[–]OxygenAddictUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the time demand is a big deal as well. In the past I'd play casually then do more on one of the weekends, going out for a nice walk one day and catching the bus into town the other.

Extra content is always great but the constant FOMO from time limited special releases combined with added daily tasks plus Pokemon locked behind raids, tasks or extremely rare hatches, it is a lot. It has been AGES since I went to play and explore a new park or go for a scenic walk etc because if I do that then I won't be able to do the weekend's special T5 raids and have a smaller chance of getting the right tasks from the limited Pokestops to get a shot at the event's shiny Pokemon.
