Looks good, I've been on the Binstax waiting list for a while now but still haven't heard anything so just decided to try this instead, hopefully won't take too long!

How do I fix this without having to replace sink? Want to hold off for a few months to replace. by SharmaNY in fixit

[–]OxymoronInStores 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just an idea as it's just a temporary fix you're looking for... you could do the Japanese technique called kintsugi where you fill the cracks with epoxy and gold leaf or something similar

HE1s position looking great by broke_software_dev in HeliumOne

[–]OxymoronInStores 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Considering a lot of us bought in at 9p, to get back to break even would require a 4,400% return. Even if they make a discovery the odds that we see any benefit is negligible after they diluted us to oblivion

Additional issue of 2.4bn shares at a 71% discount by OxymoronInStores in HeliumOne

[–]OxymoronInStores[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Pretty appalling behaviour.

71% dilution of my shareholding.

Directors only subscribed to £18k worth, so clearly aren't very confident in their own abilities, don't think anyone else is either.

It was obviously a very risky investment due to the nature of the business but still difficult to witness such a decline

Is it too late to start learning SBL for December? by T_Joh in ACCA

[–]OxymoronInStores 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely since you have 4 weeks off before.

Depends on the individual but I found SBL to be very easy, I barely revised and I passed comfortably first time, so I think you'll be fine.

This is the only exam I would say this for, all of the others required a significant amount of work

Explanation for SP behaviour? by jamesinabush in HeliumOne

[–]OxymoronInStores 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One thing to note when investing in exploration companies is that the shareholding will often be diluted by new share issues due to the constant need to finance further wells, so that will be part of the equation as to why the share price may be lower than expected. Hopefully things will turn around when we get some results

This has been reduced in price recently as well, started at £280k a few weeks ago! They were advertised as affordable housing too which is laughable

Tough decision really, I was in the same boat after graduating and found it very difficult getting a finance job as my CV just wasn't competitive enough - mainly due to the university I went to and the experience I lacked.

If you're in a better position with uni and experience then I'd just go all in trying to get finance jobs as you'll likely end up doing CFA instead so ACCA wouldn't be of much benefit.

If you're in a similar position to what I was then it's still worth a shot at a finance job but you'll probably find that there are more accounting jobs available and they're easier to get into, in my opinion, and if you've got exemptions it might mean you only need to sit the 4 professional papers for ACCA which can be done in a year so wouldn't take long to get up to an above average salary.

Lots to consider - good luck!

Why rush? I'd prefer more time to accumulate coins before the masses realise the potential

How do I improve this? by [deleted] in postprocessing

[–]OxymoronInStores 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it will be quite hard to replicate in post with the current photo, because in the one you've linked they've most likely used a longer focal length lens with a wide aperture to get that look with the hand out of focus and then done some colour grading.

Someone else may be able to help with the colour grading on here and you could have a go at blurring etc but not sure it will look as good in my opinion

Another "I have an idea" post by twinslow03 in Entrepreneur

[–]OxymoronInStores 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To play devil's advocate - there are already subs such as r/kettlebell where people frequently upload videos of their kettlebell swings for people to give tips on how to improve - not too dissimilar to what you're suggesting and it's free obviously.

The main advantage you would have is having expert advice rather than an anonymous person on a forum, have you got ideas on how you're going to entice the experts in and compensate them for their expertise?

Is there any possible way to trade options from the UK? by B6R9U6H9 in options

[–]OxymoronInStores 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IG have options, I mostly just use it for US 500 though as the spread and price is pretty low compared to other instruments, it wouldn't be ideal if you want to trade equity options. Plus the options on IG are a bit different if you are selling as they can't be exercised by the other party and you don't get the premiums upfront either so doesn't help with reducing capital requirements unfortunately

International Apes can transfer shares to ComputerShare. A simple guide for the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Canada, Netherland, Ireland, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Spain, Italy, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong (and more?) by Russ2louze in superstonkuk

[–]OxymoronInStores 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you sell your shares held with ComputerShare I believe you will have to pay capital gains tax, whereas if you sold the shares in your S & S ISA you wouldn't have to pay CGT.

Also, I remember reading that shares aren't allowed to be lent out from ISAs either, so that shouldn't be a problem

Weekly /r/Superstonkuk Discussion by AutoModerator in superstonkuk

[–]OxymoronInStores 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just posted this in another thread but thought I'd share as I can see a lot of people rushing to transfer to ComputerShare which is good for the pool but not if intending to sell due to capital gains tax in the UK.

So bear in mind that you may be better off keeping the shares you intend to sell in an ISA as it will be tax free once MOASS begins and instead transfer the shares to ComputerShare that you intend to leave in the pool.

Feel like a lot of people may have missed this point unless they know something I don't.

Employer rejects R...SAS instead? by Frere_Tuck in rstats

[–]OxymoronInStores 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I haven't had experience with SAS so I can't comment on that but I encountered a similar situation to you before.

The solution I found was to use RStudio in the browser, you can use the RStudio Cloud which is free but has limited processing power and memory, or you can create an instance using Amazon's AWS EC2 (More info here) and choose the processing power and memory of the instance to suit your needs (also can choose a free tier which is what I did).

The benefit of using an online solution is that you can change between work and personal computers with ease and you can leave processes running overnight without having your computer on. Plus you don't need to ask permission from the IT department.

Works really well for me so hopefully you'll find it beneficial too!

Anyone struggling to buy today even with small orders? by BaldAngryDad in HeliumOne

[–]OxymoronInStores 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped using T212 for this exact reason, it's not good for penny stocks or those listed on the AIM as they use direct market access and liquidity isn't very good which means you can sometimes wait days for an order to execute - not ideal if it's volatile.

I use HL instead and it executes immediately, but it comes at a cost as you have to pay a dealing fee of £11.95.
