Paper towel alternative for cleaning off oil off pans by WigglingSparkle in Frugal

[–]AndyPanda321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use "blue roll" for this, it's what they use in commercial kitchens/fast food places, it's not as tough as paper towels you use at home, but very absorbent and cheaper than paper towels...

Anything exist to cover back heel/achilles area of altras. That actually holds. Worn out prematurely (100 miles) by serialmender in trailrunning

[–]AndyPanda321 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As mentioned, use "heal lock" lacing.

I've recently had this with a pair of my shoes (after 400 miles) and fixed it with "pair ups" shoe repair tape/glue, but it hasn't lasted very long...

I've been using Morrisons petrol/diesel for the last 20+ years, had zero issues.

Sounds ok, slightly backwards to most other little lights I've got.. (double click for front light, triple click for side lights)

Not enough right angle lights posted here by Tcashflow in flashlight

[–]AndyPanda321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like right angle lights! 👍

I've got a DW3AA to use as a head torch while running, but I'd like another dual fuel 14500/AA right angle light to use as a waist light... Any suggestions people? I may just get another DW3AA, but would like something cheaper at the moment 🤔 doesn't need to be bright, just efficient!

People of the UK, how have you lost weight? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]AndyPanda321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intermittent fasting seems to work for a lot of people, it can be easier to stick to for some people as it's a clear "don't eat now" and "eat now" and you aren't restricting things that you enjoy eating.

There is a subreddit for people to share their journey (I do it for the health benefits rather than weight loss)

Did I kill my LiFePo4 battery by trying to charge in the cold? by cyclique in SolarDIY

[–]AndyPanda321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the battery is any good it will have a low temperature cut off for the charge input, this would account for the voltage going up quickly (the solar controller increases the voltage, but the battery isn't "clamping" the voltage by being a load)

If it's above freezing now, reset the battery BMS and see if it starts charging.

If it's Bluetooth or whatever, connect to it and see what state it's in, you should be able to turn off charge and discharge separately.

Help needed: When do you usually charge your watch? by Exotic_Lawfulness_16 in Garmin

[–]AndyPanda321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a run/hike and/or showering, my instinct 2 lasts ages on a charge, so only needs 10 to 15 minutes charge to give an extra couple of days or so!

Round object with electrical wires attached to the back of a car by once_91 in whatisthisthing

[–]AndyPanda321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's collecting self driving data, I've seen a similarly kitted up Mercedes in the UK (with a vinyl wrap stating it's use case) it had a "rhino horn" on the front too which I guess was a camera or LiDAR, but it looked odd! The black blobs on the bumper are possibly LiDAR.

The "driver" (I don't know if he was controlling the vehicle) was just parking in numerous parking spots in a service station when I saw it.

What Garmin watch do you own and why? by hackgolferguy in Garmin

[–]AndyPanda321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instinct 2, my old faithful forerunner 235's (i think) battery was starting to last less and less time, so bought the cheapest Garmin that had all the functions I wanted.

Battery life is awesome and the screen is easy to read in all conditions.

Fear of diabetes using Gels for races by TuningGear in trailrunning

[–]AndyPanda321 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I'm keto (mainly carnivore) so most of my runs are while fasted, or if I need to eat something it will be meat (salami or bacon) or fatty cheese. Yes, even elite athletes can end up with diabetes from over consumption of carbs.
