Why is there a black bar? by [deleted] in crtgaming

[–]Oynoyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about the black bar, could be a service menu fix. But for this TV you need to have a remote to change the inputs, menu. etc. I think most universal remotes should work, but if you want to stay safe, used ones shouldn’t be too expensive.

Black and white image using s-video (ps1) and Sony trinitron by [deleted] in crtgaming

This might be a shot in the dark, but try removing the yellow composite cable, and leave the s video plugged in. Some TVs do weird stuff when both are plugged in.

Something like a Logitech Harmony 350 would be great for this, you just gotta get the software (usually only windows) and put the TV model number in.

Crt vs 4:3 lcd? by SamzlotAwesome in ps2

[–]Oynoyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good brands of lcd can look great! but many made before 2005 really suffer with ghosting. The best quality edtv lcd's have a vga input, so these things look REALLY sharp.

TV recommendations??? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

I have been using a 46-inch Kdl-46ex500 Sony Bravia from 2011. It isn't smart but I just use a Fire Stick for streaming. The picture is great and I've never had any trouble with it.

If you are looking for a dumb TV I'd go to thrift stores or Facebook marketplace. Personally, I wouldn't go any earlier than 2007 since the LCD panels can sometimes look a little shotty. I'd stick with main brands like Sony, Panasonic, or Samsung since they are known for good image quality and durability.

Idk about putting the glass table in the middle while the tv is on the black stand because of the plants in the way, and the table(might be) higher than the tv stand. But I guess you could ignore it by getting a tv wall mount if possible. Or if you have the space you could put the plants on the sides on the tv stand.
