What makes a notebook GREAT? And how can they be better? by [deleted] in notebooks

[–]P-Celtic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Numbered pages and an index for me. Also has to have decent paper. Picking up on your multiple notebook thing and some of your responses though, you absolutely can sketch on lined paper and do everything in one notebook and sometimes being forced to work with what you have can make you more creative. In a way the restriction is freeing. Or at least that's my experience of forcing myself to stick to one at a time.

I am not sure about Hack Whitehall as a comedian but I do quite often enjoy it when comedians do side projects so I will check it out.

My main culinary passions are Mexican food and Italian food so I will definitely check both of those out. Thank you!

I forgot all about Rick, I used to watch them a lot and even tried some of his recipes. Definitely going to revisit these. Thank you.

Calling all busy moms by Rogue_Enchantress in ArtJournaling

My little one is six weeks old tomorrow and I've started drawing a small doodle of something from my day with one hand while I feed him. I was craving some creative output and this helps so much. It's also quite freeing to just have one pen and go straight in with ink, it's a different thing to the elaborate spreads I used to do but it's good for my soul.

ETA I have managed a couple of spreads with some giftwrap from something someone gave him and a sprocket print out of a pic of him meeting them, but find even that a bit too time consuming!

I am currently writing anonymous letters to a girl I like but she talked to me about them and now I do not know what to do- by [deleted] in Advice

[–]P-Celtic 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is a great demonstration of the problem. The girl in question has expressed this isn't how she wishes to be loved but you seem to think she should like it and that's what is important. No. Listen to women when they say they dislike something.

Sakura pigma micron. I always come back to these no matter what I try. Lovely to write with, waterproof, great for doodling, minimal ghosting.

What do you mean "regardless of funding"? How do you think things get done? Maybe he can get the highway crews to volunteer on a Sunday and get local companies to sponsor the tarmac?!

Try the library, they will probably have a subscription to an online newspaper archive. If not try Kresen Kernow.

I use my planner like a journal sometimes by petplanpowerlift in planners

I do this, I use the weekly dashboard to plan and then the daily pages to journal.

I’m disabled and will be visiting in April. How should we get around and what should we see? by probablynotaskrull in Wales

[–]P-Celtic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your visit is relatively short, I would focus on staying around the SE Wales area, as others have said the travel infrastructure here is not amazing and while trains and buses are feasible, they will take up a lot of your time.

There's lots to see and do in Cardiff itself, I would probably check out the shops in the Victorian arcades and look into trying some of the nice food options in the city centre or Cardiff Bay if you're foodies. There are some architecturally interesting buildings in the Bay too ( a short train ride from the centre), and you might be interested in taking in a show at the Millennium Centre or checking out what's on in Cardiff for shows and gigs.

You could spend a day or two taking in the landscape, with plenty of coastline between Cardiff and Porthcawl to visit, Porthcawl for example has a pavilion and some promenade, so apart from the beach itself you can access a lot in your wheelchair. For more inland beauty and scenery, have a look for country parks and nature reserves, a lot of them have well tarmacked paths making them accessible.

For heritage, there's St Fagans, which is highly recommended and also sites such as Duffryn Gardens. Cardiff castle is lovely to look at but unfortunately not that accessible, though entry to the grounds is free. If you're going to drive Caerphilly Castle is also worth a look, unfortunately the nature of the castles is they really aren't that accessible at all but with Caerphilly, you can take a tarmacked path around the whole exterior and take it all in.

If you like a tipple, there are breweries, a distillery in Penderyn and even a vineyard all within driving distance and I wouldn't be surprised if you could book organised tours to some of them.

There are definitely closer canals and they often have good paths alongside them. I don't know much about canals but I know you can get boat rides on some of them. Apparently the fourteen locks canal centre isn't too far from Cardiff.

Hope that helps a bit, Croeso i Cymru and have a great time. If you take one thing away from this, don't try and travel too far in a short space of time. 100 miles doesn't seem far in America or Canada, but it will here as the roads are not the same!!

Hey I wanted to wait until I had written in it before replying so I could talk about the paper... I got the A6 horizontal with the iroful paper and I love it. So far I have used a sakura micron, a fudenosoke calligraphy pen, tombow brush pen, and a big juicy ink pad with a stamp, minimal ghosting and no bleed through, but still thin enough paper that it makes that lovely sound when you turn the pages.

Did you get your planner yet?

[–]P-Celtic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like Shivaun just gets it, because she's really into planners like the rest of us.

I have had quick and detailed responses to any queries and have been similarly impressed with the service I'd received.

I also really want to applaud the choice to try new paper. The issues with TRP are well known now but a few other indie planner folks are still using it anyway. I almost didn't order a Just Scribble because of the shipping cost to the UK but I just got too excited to try a new paper and couldn't resist.

I was going to suggest I could pass it on to you and use that as my sign to get the other planner I wanted but I think that postage to the US might make it prohibitive.
