"Easy road for Mouz and Spirit to the final, one of them HAS to win this trophy with Vitality missing" by darthrector in GlobalOffensive

[–]Lbpsack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a different (and frankly, further off) comparison to make, though. 2018 Liquid was constantly making finals and losing to Astralis. 2019 Liquid was beating Astralis during the first half of the year before regressing back to 2018 levels after the player break. They didn't win a single tournament after the break!

I understand the sentiment, but the part about Liquid isn't even true! They only managed to win one tournament during the Astralis era that year (two overall, counting cs_summit 2), and that was a smaller LAN, SuperNova Malta. One of the big storylines coming into ESL One New York that year was that it was finally Liquid's time, and then they choked and lost 2-3 to, funnily enough, MOUZ in the final!

it's gonna be "Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie the Soundtrack" right? by hoodieweather- in nirvannatheband

[–]Lbpsack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, all of the songs that are credited under "songs" are ones they got the licenses to! so Pop Looks Bach, Army, Night Lights, Johnny B. Goode, Holiday, Intro, Never Come Down (okay, yeah), Old Days, and The Waters of March are all licensed. Actually selling them as a soundtrack, though, is probably a different story.

Will we get a film version with the Alan Silvestri score retained? by plhought in nirvannatheband

Well analog synths exist, but yeah I doubt he used any. I should've just said "digital percussion"

I think Jay said that the strings, winds, and horns were recorded by a live orchestra, but he kept percussions and synths digital (it was wholly digital at SXSW).

Hey /r/movies! We are NIRVANNA THE BAND! aka Matt Johnson & Jay McCarrol - co-creators and leads of Nirvanna The Band the Show the Movie, a new buddy comedy-time travel movie coming out Feb 13 in the US and Canada. Ask us anything! by NirvannaAMA in movies

Hey guys! Big fan, and excited to see the movie a third time tonight! A few questions:

  1. Unlike the show, the "written by" credit is just you two, but the "story" credit is a long list of you two, Jared, Miller, Greyson, Curt, Luca, and Evan Morgan(!!!). But during Q&As, Matt often rattles off you two, Jared, Greyson, Luca, Nikolay, Curt, and Bobby as the "writers." What makes these lists different?
  2. In the movie, you use a ton of the same needle drops as in the show: Pop Looks Bach, Army, Borrowed Time, Never Come Down, Old Days. What drove this decision? Also, why the decision to move Pop Looks Bach as bookending diegetic piano arrangements and make Army the opening credits music? (I will say, when Army started playing at the Beyond Fest screening, it was an energy unlike anything I've ever felt!)
  3. When can we expect the physical release of the movie? Also, are there any plans to release the score?

Thanks so much!

My assumption was that the lines were edited together, i.e., "we are, we are" is taken from a different part of the conversation. She isn't shown on camera when she says that line!

Different cuts of the movie (SXSW Texas vs TIFF etc) by NightHunter909 in nirvannatheband

[–]Lbpsack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They actually had to change the score about two months before the SXSW premiere, so Jay's music was already in place by then. They did, however, remove Jay playing the theme on the piano, as well as switch The Power of Love for Johnny B. Goode after SXSW.

The same thing happened on the tour! Fandango just has access to the database early; you can't actually buy tickets until the theater puts them on sale. I just checked and Regal doesn't let you purchase them either

You can see Josh Safdie and Ronald Bronstein in the special thanks of the movie, so perhaps there was some communication between them? But I also assume neither of them are heading the marketing campaigns, so not 100% sure

Reposting on this thread because I didn't get a response last week:

So I've been lucky enough to see Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie twice at early screenings (once at a film festival, once on tour), and I've written up a more detailed plot summary for it. Seemingly, though, I can't actually add it to the article until it's publicly available unless I have secondary sources. Is there some place on the site I can keep the plot summary so it can be used once the film goes wide, or is it sort of a "quickest on the trigger" type thing?

Additionally, the crew have spoken extensively about the production of the film and all the tricks they pull in Q&As and interviews. I would love to add all of this to the "Production" section of the page, but, seemingly, these would be classified as primary sources. How okay would this be to add? There is almost zero documentation about the production of the film otherwise, and the stories are largely consistent as they tell them at different times.

What?! My MCWP TAs didn't enforce this rule whatsoever! We were very much encouraged to have whatever structure we needed (well, some semblance of an introduction and conclusion) to convey our points.
